AFL Fantasy 2023 Finals: Port Adelaide vs GWS
The orange tsunami will descend on the Adelaide Oval on Saturday night as Port Adelaide host the GWS Giants in a do-or-die Semi Final.
The Power were well beaten by Brisbane last weekend, so their fans will be expecting a huge response in front of a raucous home crowd.

Weather
Adelaide – Sunny, 23 degrees.
Perfect conditions for football on Saturday, with a warm day transitioning into a pleasant evening.
Where To Attack?
Given that only the best teams appear in finals, it’s no surprise that there are very few fantasy trends to exploit at this point of the year.
With that being said, Port Adelaide have been a ripe matchup for ruckmen all year. The Power have been forced to chop and change their rucks throughout the campaign, but Scott Lycett will enter the Semi Final as a solo ruck. The experienced big man has struggled this season, but he produced an excellent performance last week, so it will be interesting to see how the dual with Briggs plays out.
Game Script – GWS ruck
VALUE PLAYS
Sam Taylor (DS $8,600) – I don’t love any of the basement value options on this slate, so I’m looking to pay up a bit. Taylor has had a solid season, averaging 55 DFS points, but importantly he has a high ceiling, as shown by his performances in July when he scored 91, 90, 79 and 79. A score in that range at this price point would be a fantastic return.
MID PRICED PLAYS
Ryan Burton (DS $9,790) – Port Adelaide have cycled through a few backline distributors this campaign, but Burton has emerged as the Power’s designated kicker for September. The former Hawk took four kick-ins last week for a score of 59, and his form in the lead up to the finals was very strong with scores of 91, 85 and 76. Dylan Williams is out of the side this week, which should also send more of the ball Burton's way.
PREMIUM PLAYS
Tom Green (DS $16,980) is made for finals football, as a contested bull who shows clean hands under pressure. The GWS midfielder scored 112 against the Saints last week and 118 against the Power just one month ago. You will have to pay up for this man, but I expect him to be in the top three scorers on the slate.
Kieren Briggs (DS $13,940) – as previously explained, Port have struggled to contain opposition ruckmen all year and Briggs is primed to take advantage of that trend on Saturday. Despite losing the battle against Rowan Marshall last week, Briggs still scored 102 and he will back himself to run Lycett ragged on a dry evening in Adelaide.
