Collingwood will host Fremantle in front of a packed home crowd as Week 2 of the 2022 finals series comes to a close at the MCG.

The Magpies fell just short against flag favourites Geelong last week, however they will back themselves to get the job done this time around against the travelling Dockers who must buck the trend of interstate teams struggling at the ‘G.

Showers are forecast across Melbourne on Saturday but they are expected to ease by the evening. Keep an eye on the radar in the lead up to the first bounce, but if the rain passes then expect a clean spectacle.

Midfielders against Collingwood has become a lock and load play in the back end of the season. The Magpies have conceded a league-leading 92 points to opposition mids in their last five matches and the Geelong trio of Guthrie, Dangerfield and Atkins all put up strong scores against them last week.



The Magpies have also struggled against opposition rucks, giving up 95 points to the #1 opposition big man over the last five weeks. Sean Darcy shoulders most of the load for the Dockers, so he will be on the radar for plenty of coaches this week.

VALUE PLAY

Trent Bianco ($6,430)

Bianco comes in this week for the injured Taylor Adams and should take on roles which see him around the ball. The youngster has produced three 10x value returns this year, despite often acting as the medical sub, and should make a mockery of his price this weekend.

 

MID-PRICE PLAYS

David Mundy ($11,000)

Old man Mundy has been inspirational in his final year, averaging 76 over the course of the season. Playing as the experienced head in midfield, he will get the opportunity to feast on Collingwood’s leaky mid group this week, having put up 110 points against them last time they played.

 

Jordan de Goey ($11,800)

De Goey was huge last week, with 26 touches and 124 fantasy points. He is a player who is made for finals and looks to be fit despite an injury scare. As such, the controversial star is a great play here, especially considering many will try to jam Freo mids in their line-ups.

 

PREMIUM PLAYS

Andrew Brayshaw ($15,980)

Brayshaw is an obvious option considering Collingwood’s woes against onballers. He put up 121 points in his first career final last week and shouldn’t receive any tagging attention. Furthermore, the Brownlow Medal fancy scored 111 against the Pies earlier in the campaign.

 

Sean Darcy ($13,160)

‘Shrek’ monstered Tim English in the ruck last week, tallying 47 hit outs and 98 fantasy points. This week he gets a positive matchup against the Pies, who he scored 126 points against earlier in the year. I especially like this play if wet weather lingers in Melbourne, creating more stoppages and hit out opportunities.
