Round 7 of the AFL Premiership Season for 2022 gets underway this Friday night out west as the struggling Eagles host Richmond. Given the location of the game we get a late start with the first bounce at 8:10pm AEST.

Where to Attack?
 


Despite their ladder positions, the Tigers have given up more points through the midfield this season. This has been a consistent trend for Richmond in recent years given their game style and structure, as a result considering stacking up the Eagles midfielders.
 


On the flip side it is no shock to see the Eagles giving up a huge amount of points to forwards through the first quarter of the season. They have given up over 7 points per player above league average and Tigers are favourites in this matchup, indicating their forwards should be on the receiving end of scoring opportunities.

VALUE PLAYS

Greg Clark ($8,000) was all the talk in fantasy circles during the preseason, but due to injury he is only finally making his debut this round. A mature age player he was a monster in the WAFL last season averaging over 110 fantasy points per game. There will be plenty of opportunity in the Eagles midfield as well, with Andrew Gaff, Dom Sheed and Elliot Yeo still out, and others underdone and rotating through other roles, Clark is a lock and load play.

Tom Lynch ($8,580), as noted above the Eagles have been get decimated by forwards this season and historically despite having a solid defence they have been susceptible to key forwards due to the way they zone off. I will be piling into Lynch in this matchup as he has every opportunity to hit a ceiling score in this matchup and kick a bag.


MID PRICED PLAYS

Tim Kelly ($12,270) looked back to his best last week after a disrupted start to the season. Last week in a loss he still posted 113 points and as noted above the Tigers have given up the second most points in the league to midfielders. I will be stacking up a couple of Eagles midfielders and Kelly looks to be the number one option at this point in the season.

Toby Nankervis ($12,720) will get an elite matchup against the second gamer Luke Strnadica. Without Nic Nat the Eagles have been giving up 95 points per game to the oppositions number one ruckman this season and Nankervis showed last week he still has huge upside with a season high 111 points.


PREMIUM PLAY

Alex Witherden ($14,210) has been filling up the Eagles losses this season as they get pinned down in their back line and possess the over possess the football in this area of the ground. Averaging 100 points per game, and topping the 100 point mark in the last three games, Witherden’s fantasy scores rise as the Eagles performance falls. The Tigers have also historically given up points to defenders due to the way they structure up and their pressure forces opponent’s possessions into the backline.
