NFL 2021-22 Daily Fantasy Tips: Divisional Sunday
Wildcard weekend gave us some quality games, but sadly no real upsets. That gives us a very high quality Divisional Weekend, kicking off with 2 games on Sunday. The Titans host the Bengals at 8:30am, and then the Packers host the 49ers at 12:15pm. Draftstars has delivered another $10,000 main slate with $970 for first place. We also have the High Roller, Mini and Micro options.
QB:
Joe Burrow: We have at least three very viable options at QB on this slate, but Burrow is clearly the one that has his game in the best place right now and has all the pieces around him. Handling a number of pressure games in a row, Burrow seems to have elevated himself to a high level very quickly, even if we ignore his ACL injury ruining his rookie year. With an arm like Rodgers and a mind like Brady (both slight exaggerations), all the signs are there that the Bengals chose the right man to shine for them on the big stage for many years to come. With plenty of talented guys to throw it to, I think we’ll see another aerial attack from the Bengals in this game.
RB:
Elijah Mitchell: With Jimmy Garropolo banged up, the already impressive rookie RB is in line for a heavier load than he’s already getting, in a game that should stay close against the Packers. He’s been almost as good as some of the more expensive guys this season (Mixon & Jones), so looks to be the value option with very little appealing at the bottom of the salaries list.
Joe Mixon: In terms of spending up for a stud, it’s either Mixon or Derrick Henry who hasn’t played for months and is racing to even get on the field. Given it’s sudden death, Henry will probably be given all the work he can handle if he gets on the field, but it’s a very risky proposition. Mixon will get a pile of workload no matter the game situation, with a handful of catches and plenty of rushing work likely. The 100+ yards and multiple TDs that is in his range of outcomes hasn’t happened for a while, but on a small slate his usual 15+ points when healthy could be enough.
WR:
Tee Higgins: We can almost guarantee that one of the Bengals WRs is going off in this game (particularly when we’re backing Burrow), but deciding who it will be from Chase, Higgins and Boyd is much more difficult. Higgins missed some opportunities last week, while Chase was strong once again. Both have a higher ceiling than Boyd, so my focus is turning to Higgins with a 25% discount from Chase, and a very similar scoring profile. Play a couple of them together if playing Burrow.
Jauan Jennings: Salary relief is tough to come by on this slate, and I don’t think we can do any better than Jennings who has multiple receptions in six straight games and can catch the odd TD. It’s a concern that his QB is struggling to throw the ball properly, but we can’t be too picky on this slate. If Randall Cobb gets on the field he’s a viable alternative.
A.J. Brown: The Adams, Chase & Samuel types are tough to get to, forcing us to strongly consider Brown who has just as much ceiling but has been kept down by injury and a less than ideal team environment throughout the season. If Derrick Henry is back, that can only help to open up the field for Brown to have a chance to explode against the Bengals.
TE:
George Kittle: Like Jennings, Kittle has the issue of his QB being injured, and the team therefore throwing the ball less often. However, TE is as thin as it gets, and Kittle has by far the best ceiling of the options. A very quiet last month has his price way down on its usual level, and if the Packers get ahead the team might have no choice but to pepper Kittle & co with targets in the second half. The three options immediately below him on the board are all in play also, it could be an idea to stack a TE with your QB.
DST:
San Francisco 49ers: This game will be played in freezing conditions and could be a bit of a slugfest, so both DSTs are in play. I’d rather spruik the Packers given Garropolos issues at the moment, but salary is tight and I think it’s a solid idea to save every available cent by going to the bottom with a talented 49ers unit.
