Fantasy Horse Racing Tips: Saturday May 25th 2019
Eagle Farm in Queensland headlines racing this Saturday as the Winter Carnival continues with the running of the Group 1 Kingsford-Smith Cup over 1300m. That race is ably supported by many other group races plus good Winter racing at both Flemington and Randwick. Flemington hosts the inaugural running of The Andrew Ramsden over 2800m as a win and you're in for Novembers Melbourne Cup. With predominately good weather around the country I would expect firm tracks around the eastern side of the country.
SportChamps is the leading provider of fantasy horse racing tournaments and they offer a range of tournaments to suit all budgets. Their major tournaments are run on a Saturday with rebuy and no- rebuy options across the major metropolitan venues. This Saturday there is a $5,000 guaranteed tournament covering the metro meetings for $50 entry with 1 rebuy as well as a no re-buy $5,000 guaranteed tournament for metro meetings also. For those that are time-poor or are looking for an early win, they run consecutive hour-long tournaments across a range of races, spanning all 3 codes as they carry on later into the night. This week there will also be a guaranteed $5,000 tournament for a small $5 entry, giving everyone an excellent chance at a huge collect for such a small entry.
Moneyball and TopBetta also offer a vast range of tournaments, albeit slender rule variations, there is still plenty of prize money up for grabs. Despite the slightly smaller fields, options are a plenty for those wanting to play tournaments and we recommend you try out the different sites and options to find out which ones work for you. So, with plenty of racing on over the weekend covering all the main states, there is no shortage of action to keep you covered. At Daily Fantasy Rankings we have you covered across the board, so pop on the racing as we give you our best bets to give you an excellent opportunity this weekend.
11:25am Randwick – Race 1
We can kick things off in the opening race at Randwick where the 2yos do battle over 1400m. Many of these will be looking to head north for some Queensland riches, a successful method used by Chris Waller for some of his better youngsters in previous seasons. That leads me to Reloaded from the Waller stable who is coming off a very impressive debut win at this track. On that occasion he settled back in the field before making a strong run down the outside to score over Disruptor and Discharged who both look handy horses themselves. The rise in distance looks ideal and the trial since should have him in perfect order for this. Reloaded is currently $1.90 with Pointsbet and looks a good way for tournament players to have a near double up to start the day.
12:55pm Eagle Farm – Race 4
Off to the Sunshine State and Race 4 at Eagle Farm for the mares and the Snowden trained Quilista looks perfectly placed. She has thrived since joining the Snowden stable and comes off a last start romp at Doomben over 1200m last Saturday. On that occasion she bounced to the front and never gave her opposition a look in. The extra 100m here could be a query but she will get every chance to run it courtesy of a very favourable map where she can dictate things in front. Quilista looks a good gamble and is currently $2.40 at BetEasy.
1:25pm Flemington – Race 4
Race 4 at Flemington is an Open Handicap over the mile and it looks quite an even affair as the betting show. I'm happy to go with the Patrick Payne trained Strategic Demand who is coming off a great first up 3rd in a similar race to this three weeks ago at Flemington. That was a slowly run race much like this could be and in that race he recorded the fastest last 600m, 400m and 200m of the meeting. He has since had a soft trial to keep him ticking over and he looks to be going extra well. The rise from 1400m to 1600m should be to his liking too. He is currently $8.00 with BetEasy.
As far as dangers go I think Odeon finds a setup that could finally see him back in the winners stall. He has been a costly horse in recent times but I think back to a mile, Craig Williams on and more importantly Blinkers first time could be a recipe to see him go very close to winning. He is a winner of a recent trial and I think his chances would be enhanced greatly if they took the race by the scruff of the neck and went to the front given it is up for grabs. He is currently $4.40 with Neds.
2:05pm Flemington – Race 5
Race 5 at Flemington is for the 3yo fillies over 1400m and I'm happy to use a similar race to this three weeks ago as the best guide for this race. In that race Fidelia was the winner from Neighbourhood with Fabric on paper a well beaten 7th. Fidelia doesn't lineup here but has since won again whilst Neighbourhood and Fabric both have their next runs here. Neighbourhood appeared to have every chance but I think the change of rider from Fred Kersley to Michael Dee is significant here. The horse has a bad habit of laying in and Kersley didn't use the whip in his left hand like Dee had done when she was very impressive in winning her first start. With Dee back on and a bit of luck from an inside gate I think he can get her going straight and she looks a great chance. Neighbourhood is currently $5.50 with Sportsbet. Fabric was a total forget run last start never really getting a crack at them. Craig Williams jumps in the saddle and with some greater luck on her side she looks like being in the finish. Fabric is currently $6.00 with Sportsbet.
3:35pm Eagle Farm - Race 8
The feature event for the day at Eagle Farm is the Group 1 Kingsford-Smith Cup for the sprinters. It is a wide open event with the Godolphin trained Trekking the early favourite at $6.50. There should be a genuine tempo courtesy of the big field and a few of the on speed horses drawn wide. I'm happy to side with The Bostonian to repeat his last start win in the Doomben 10,000. On that occasion he sat just off the leading pack before taking tight runs back to the inside to score. The extra 100m here is only going to assist and he should be able to get a nice run just off the speed. The Bostonian is currently $7.50 with Neds. Dollar For Dollar ran 3rd in that same race after racing outside the leader and only being run down late. Is he likely to receive a similar run here and is rarely not in the finish in these types of races. Dollar For Dollarappears to be over the odds at $17 with BetEasy.
