Fantasy Horse Racing Tips: Saturday March 23rd 2019
All eyes will be on Rosehill this week where their feature meeting of the year is set to take place. Golden Slipper day has something for everyone with the main race for the 2yos, The Rosehill Guineas for the Derby bound 3yos, The George Ryder Stakes featuring Winx, The Ranvet for the middle distance horses and the Galaxy for the sprinters, all at Group 1 level. Thats 5 Group 1s supporter with another 4 Group and Listed races. This years meeting will be run on a wet track so you will need to look for those horses that can handle that kind of surface.
SportChamps is the leading provider of fantasy horse racing tournaments and they offer a range of tournaments to suit all budgets. Their major tournaments are run on a Saturday with rebuy and no-rebuy options across the major metropolitan venues. Their offering for Golden Slipper day is a $15,000 guaranteed contest for a $50 entry with 1 rebuy, as well as a $10,000 guaranteed for a $20 entry, also with 1 rebuy. They also have a smaller event - a $2 entry can get you into a $2,000 guaranteed tournament with no rebuys. For those not willing to spend a whole day in a big contest, they run consistent hour-long contests across a range of races. They also offer free to enter games which can be a great way to try the site out with no financial risk.
Moneyball and TopBetta also offer a smaller suite of contests but their rule variations and smaller fields mean the options are plenty for those wanting to play tournaments and we recommend you try out the different sites and options to find out which ones work for you.
The opening race on the card is for the mares and the James Cummings trained Resin looks well placed. She loomed to win 1st up and was just run over by a couple of stronger mares. She should be fitter for that run, has a liking for wet tracks and is unbeaten 2nd up. She is draw wide but sitting off the fence should be no disadvantage and she should be mighty hard to hold out. She is currently $3.90 with Sportsbet.
Race 3 is the staying event on the card and a key lead up for the Sydney Cup. Chris Waller has three runners including the favourite Shraaoh and he looks well placed. Shraaoh comes off a fast finishing 2nd over 2000m last start and the step up to 2400m should be in his favour. The wet track does his chances no harm as he was a dominant winner on a rain affected track on Melbourne Cup day. Kerrin McEvoy retains the ride and he should give him a sweet run from the inside gate. He looks one of the better plays for the day and is currently $3.00 with Pointsbet.
Gun 3yo The Autumn Sun will be looking to continue his winning run in Race 4, the Rosehill Guineas. He looks unbelievably well placed up to 2000m and the wet track is of no concern. He should be able to settle closer in the run up in distance and no doubt will be strong at the finish. Bad luck looks to be his main danger and the $1.45 with Neds looks to be a good option to bolster your bank. You may even get better come jump time.
Race 7 is the main event on the card, the $3.5 Million Golden Slipper for 2yos. Godolphin looks to have a stranglehold on the race with 6 runners but as the betting shows it is a wide open race. Cosmic Force was ultra impressive winning a key lead up race last week over the Slipper track and distance and the wet track will be of no concern to him. He is drawn gate 2 so may need some luck early to get clear running but should that happen he looks the horse to beat. He is currently $4.60 with BetEasy. The main danger looks to be the James Cummings trained Tenley. She is unbeaten in her three runs and in all three has had a powerful finish. Her latest win was in a key lead up and she should love the expected high pressure in the race. She is yet to tick the wet track box but she is bred to handle it. She is currently $5.50 with Neds. If you are looking for a bit more value then you could do worse than playing either or both Lyre or Exhilarates. Lyre is last start winner of the Blue Diamond where she powered to the line to win. She recently trialled well at Randwick and although she is yet to see a wet track she is bred to love it. She is $12 with Sportsbet. Exhilarates is another runner from the Cummings yard and she has had one run back since winning the Magic Millions. That looked like a prep run for this and she is another that will be very strong at the finish of the 1200m. She too is bred to handle a wet track and comes right into play should horses coming down the middle of the track be advantaged. She is currently $17 with Pointsbet.
