Fantasy Horse Racing Tips: Saturday June 8th 2019
Queensland once again is centre stage for racing this Saturday around Australia with Stradbroke Handicap day at Eagle Farm featuring three Group 1 races and a support card full of other Group and Listed races. The track should be relatively dry however there is some rain forecast for raceday. Punters also have solid Winter meetings from Flemington and Randwick where the sting will be out of both tracks after some recent rain.
SportChamps is the leading provider of fantasy horse racing tournaments and they offer a range of tournaments to suit all budgets. Their major tournaments are run on a Saturday with rebuy and no-rebuy options across the major metropolitan venues. This Saturday there is a $5,000 guaranteed tournament covering the metro meetings for $50 entry with 1 rebuy as well as a no re-buy $5,000 guaranteed tournament for metro meetings also. For those that are time-poor or are looking for an early win, they run consecutive hour-long tournaments across a range of races, spanning all 3 codes as they carry on later into the night. This week there will also be a guaranteed $5,000 tournament for a small $5 entry, giving everyone an excellent chance at a huge collect for such a small entry.
Moneyball and TopBetta also offer a vast range of tournaments, albeit slender rule variations, there is still plenty of prize money up for grabs. Despite the slightly smaller fields, options are a plenty for those wanting to play tournaments and we recommend you try out the different sites and options to find out which ones work for you. So, with plenty of racing on over the weekend covering all the main states, there is no shortage of action to keep you covered. At Daily Fantasy Rankings we have you covered across the board, so pop on the racing as we give you our best bets to give you an excellent opportunity this weekend.
12:15pm Flemington - Race 2
We kick things off at Flemington where the mares lineup over 1400m. The David Brideoake trained Kings Brook looks a standout here after easily winning a similar race to this over this track and distance three weeks ago. She is 2 from 2 since the blinkers have been applied and they have definitely improved her. The small concern here is the lack of speed on paper and where she may end up from her inside draw. Should the luck come when required then it's hard to see her being beaten. She is currently $2.30 with Sportsbet.
2:15pm Eagle Farm - Race 6
The first Group 1 of the day at Eagle Farm is race 6 the J.J. Atkins Plate for the 2yos. I'm going to use a race at Randwick over 1400m two weeks ago as the major form point where Prince Fawaz beat Reloaded. On that occasion Reloaded started a short priced favourite but was comprehensively beaten by Prince Fawaz who stormed down the middle of the track. I'm happy to side with Prince Fawaz again here as I think the rise to a mile will only be to his advantage and he can possibly settle closer in the run from his good barrier. Kerrin McEvoy jumps on here and the horse is currently $4.60 with BetEasy.
4:05pm Flemington - Race 8
Race 8 at Flemington is a competitive Open Handicap over 1400m. The early favourite is the Danny O'Brien trained Iconoclasm who comes off a down the track effort in The Goodwood at Group 1 level last start. Nothing really went right for him that day and he finds a much more suitable race here. He is unbeaten over the 1400m, is a winner of 3 from 4 at Flemington and is unbeaten third up. He maps to get a lovely run just off the speed here and its hard to see him not being in the finish. He is currently $3.60 with PointsBet.
Should the track be suiting those making ground out wide then Manolo Blahniq comes right into calculations. He ran well last start over 1200m in what looks a good prep run for this over a more suitable distance. He is drawn wide so will need some luck to slot in early but can finish hard off the right run. He is currently $8.00 with Sportsbet.
4:15pm Eagle Farm - Race 9
The final event of the day at Eagle Farm is the Brisbane Cup over 2400m. The majority of the field come out of last start runs in either the Premiers Cup two weeks ago or the O'Shea Stakes last week. I'm happy to go with the O'Shea Stakes where Kenedna beat Sixties Groove as the superior form line. There is no Kenedna here so that leaves me with Sixties Groove who has raced well all preparation without winning. He is drawn wide so Damien Oliver will need to be at his best but should he find a position with cover then he should be mighty hard to hold out and the $4.00 with Neds looks a reasonable price.
4:25pm Randwick - Race 9
The last race at Randwick is at BM78 over the mile where the Mark Newnham trained Quackerjack looks a standout. He comes off a last start 2nd to Kolding at Randwick where he ran along in front and was run down late with a big gap back to the 3rd placegetter. There are no horses at the level of Kolding here and he should be able to work his way forward for Josh Parr from his wide draw in a race without a huge amount of speed and be very hard to beat. He is unbeaten on soft going so the conditions should be to his liking. He is currently $2.60 with BetEasy.
