Fantasy Horse Racing Tips: Saturday January 12th 2019
The highlight of the summer racing this weekend is on the Gold Coast, where the Magic Millions raceday takes place offering millions of dollars in prizemoney and is highlighted by the feature, the $2m Magic Millions 2yo Classic. While Gold Coast is the focus, there is a ton of DFS action on offer across all the different states of racing.
SportChamps is the leading provider of fantasy horse racing tournaments and they offer a range of tournaments to suit all budgets. They offer two major contests of a Saturday – one rebuy and one no-rebuy – featuring guaranteed prize pools and operationg across all of the major metropolitan venues. For those not willing to spend a whole day in a big contest, they run consistent hour-long contests across a range of races. They also offer free to enter games which can be a great way to try the site out with no financial risk.
Moneyball and TopBetta also offer a smaller suite of contests but their rule variations and smaller fields mean the options are plenty for those wanting to play tournaments and we recommend you
Tournament players who like to bet up around two stand out favourites might be intrigued by race 3 at Flemington at 1:43pm. Silentz is the favourite at $2.40 with Beteasy after scoring a gutsy win at Caulfield. However, the second favourite Guizot might be able to settle closer to the speed in a race lacking a lot of tempo and scored with ease last time at Warrnambool. Currently at odds of $3.10 on Neds, he may represent better value than Silentz and you may choose to skew your result to him and merely chop out on the favourite.
Favourite punters will have a close eye on race 5 at Flemington at 2:53pm as Masculino looks the winner at a short quote. He’s now up to his favourite trip, having finished in the first two at all four runs, and was game last time at Moonee Valley when beaten by an in-form Al Galayel. He continues to improve as the races get longer and should be just about cherry ripe now with one run over this distance under his belt. Makes his own luck on speed and he looks a genuine bet to return to the winner’s circle at $2.10 on Pointsbet.
The Star Thoroughbreds-owned mare Invincibella looks to make it successive wins in the $1m Magic Millions Fillies & Mares at the Gold Coast, which is race 6 set down for 3:35pm. Since her win in last year’s event she has proven her quality over this year’s spring carnival, scoring a dominant win in the Group 2 Blazer Stakes and then placing in the Group 2 Tristarc Stakes behind Shumookh. She made ground after a freshen up last time at Doomben and looks spot on here coming through the same path as last year. She is the class runner of the field and with even luck she can get the money at odds of $3.80 at Neds.
Those looking for something at a longer price may find Sweet Deal to their liking in race 7 at Randwick at 4:35pm. The John Thompson trained mare put together successive wins at Rosehill before finding Redouble a shade too strong last time over this course. Stays in BM88 grade and look set for a good run near the lead so if she holds her current form she should be right in the finish again at the current price of $6.00 with Beteasy.
The feature race of the day, the $2m Magic Millions 2yo Classic, takes place at 5:00pm AEDT in race 8 at the Gold Coast. The Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott hold a strong hand in the race with a couple of the major fancies and while Unite And Conquer is shorter in the market, it is Czarson who might provide them with the trophy. He is undefeated in his two starts, beating the favourite Exhilarates at Gosford before running away to score a dominant win at Rosehill. He trialled stylishly since that run, shading his stablemate Unite And Conquer, and looks set to improve on the stable’s already impressive Gold Coast record. At odds of $7.50 on Sportsbet, he represents terrific value in the race.
Race 8 at Randwick at 5:20pm sees the consistent Turnberry go around and it might be the race for him to return to the winners’ list. He always makes his own luck racing on the speed but may have found the 1800m slightly beyond him last time. Gets in well at the weights with Robbie Dolan’s 3kg claim and should find the front over a more suitable trip here. At odds of $3.80 with Sportsbet he could be the horse to set you up perfectly for the final tournament flurry.
