Fantasy Horse Racing Tips: Saturday February 2nd 2019
Victorian racing is once again at Caulfield this week with the Group 3 Manfred Stakes for the 3yos looking the most interesting race of the day. Many of the star 3yos from the Spring resume in this and it throws up an all to familiar conundrum for punters at this time of the year with first up Spring horses meeting the race fit Summer horses. With fine weather in Melbourne in the lead up we should be racing on a firm surface.
SportChamps is the leading provider of fantasy horse racing tournaments and they offer a range of tournaments to suit all budgets. Their major tournaments are run on a Saturday with rebuy and no-rebuy options across the major metropolitan venues. For those not willing to spend a whole day in a big contest, they run consistent hour-long contests across a range of races. They also offer free to enter games which can be a great way to try the site out with no financial risk.
Moneyball and TopBetta also offer a smaller suite of contests but their rule variations and smaller fields mean the options are plenty for those wanting to play tournaments and we recommend you try out the different sites and options to find out which ones work for you.
Race 2 on the card is for the stayers over 2400m and only sees 7 competitors go round. The Danny O'Brien trained Second Bullet is up to this distance for the first time since 2016 but he is racing as if he wants it. He followed a strong win in a fast race at Flemington with a midfield finish on this track last week where he wasn't suited by the farcical speed. Damien Oliver retains the ride and he should be on speed and receiving every possible chance. He is currently $3.00 with Sportsbet.
Race 4 is over 2000m and the early scratching of Schabau robs the race of plenty of interest as he would have gone round a short priced favourite. Prince Ziggy has been up since March last year but is racing in sterling form. He likes to get on speed and give himself every chance. He has found a most suitable race here and looks a good play at $2.80 with Neds.
Race 8 is the Manfred Stakes over 1200m and it sees the return of some Spring stars. I am going to side with Tin Hat who is coming off two midweek wins at Sandown. On both occassions he found the front and kept going to win in good time. He is rock hard fit whilst a number of his competitors are likely to be better for the run. It also looks like he can find the front again and should be very hard to run down. He is currently $3.40 with PointsBet.
The feature race at Rosehill is the Expressway Stakes which has drawn a small field of 6. The James Cummings trained mare Alizee is the odds on favourite after a very impressive 1st up win at Randwick. She looks short enough given her racing style and the fact it looks to be a tactical affair. She is also yet to win 2nd up and at Rosehill. This looks a most suitable race for Trapeze Artist on his home track. He has a good 1st up record and should be right in the firing line in the run. He is currently $3.70 with BetEasy.
