2018 NRL Chalk, Chance or Chump: Round 25 Thursday
The final Round of the NRL season will kick off on Thursday night when South Sydney will hope to cement their place in the top 4 when they take on the Wests Tigers, a side they have beaten just once in their last 6 clashes.
The sites PlayON and DraftStars will run their usual tournaments, but this week will also see MoneyBall run a unique competition, where you have to select a side that scores 475 points to win. They have a total prize pool of $14,250 on the line, with a buy-in of just $1! So get on over there and try your hand at this challenge!
Chalk – Greg Inglis (Rabbitohs)
Inglis made his return from injury last week, having missed near 2 months of football. However he looked like he hadn’t missed a second, scoring an impressive score of 47.5, well up on his season average of 32.6. He’s scored 12 tries in his 17 games against the Tigers and is expected to have a field day up against makeshift centre Mahe Fonua and Kevin Naiqama, who aren’t well known for their defensive ability. The fact he’s priced quite reasonably at $8,700 makes him a very strong option, without chewing up too much cap space.
Chance – Alex Twal (Tigers)
The young prop had the best game of his short career last week, racking up a score of 57.4, over double his season average of 25.7. With the Tigers down one of their regular starting props, Twal is expected to see extra playtime in this match, especially against Souths big middle forwards. At $5,400 he’s a cheap risk to take, but one that could produce well above his season average again here.
Chump – Mahe Fonua (Tigers)
The bustling back is a fan favourite but can be clumsy with the ball in hand and in the defensive line. He’ll have the in-form John Sutton and magnificent Greg Inglis running at him all night. He could well be in for a long night. His season average of 31 is respectable enough, but for $6,200, he might be worth giving a miss in favour for a Souths back instead.
