Shane Savage (St Kilda)

Savage become one of the premier fantasy scoring defenders in the league last season with his run and carry and elite kicking from the half back flank. The Saints regularly try their best to make Savage the loose man in defence and although he only had 12 touches and 59 points in the Saints win over Brisbane in Round 3 last year, he finished the season in fantastic form. He scored 82 and 110 in limited roles in the two JLT Series games, so we think he’s a massive chance to clear his 90-point line here.

Paddy Ryder (Port Adelaide)

Ryder finds himself in a group with Aaron Sandilands and Charlie Dixon in Saturday’s game against the Dockers. He is a $2.30 favourite to top the group but we think he should be even shorter than that. Ryder was one of the best rucks in the competition last year, averaging 91 fantasy points per game while Sandilands averaged 77 and Dixon 83. Is the soul ruckman in the PA team so should be around the ball for the majority of the game.

Jarrod Witts (Gold Coast)

Another ruckman for our final tip of the Saturday slate. Jarrod Witts had a breakout year in 2017 and we think he is ready to go next level this season. He is the sole ruckman for Gold Coast, and his line for Saturday’s game against North Melbourne is just 86.5, which we think is a little low. Will be playing against a great hit out ruckman in Todd Goldstein but we think he’s up to the challenge. Cleared the 86 point mark in 12 of 19 games last season and had five big scores over 100.
