Weather
Launceston - Sunny, 21 degrees
Gold Coast - Partly cloudy, slight chance of showers. 26 degrees
Absolutely perfect football conditions in Launceston this Sunday, and nothing that should impact the game on the Gold Coast either. Of course at Marvel the weather does not matter. Let’s play some fantasy!
Where to Attack?
If you have been reading all year, you already know what we are going to say here. Every slate that features the Saints this season you can lock in loading up your teams on their opponent's defenders. Their structure under Ross Lyon has been conceding the most points in the league to backs by over 20 points per player above league average. This has been really predominant in the key backs so let’s load up on the Blues defenders.
This slate is loaded with other options as well with the Hawks giving up the second most to the position and North Melbourne and Gold Coast sitting third and fourth for points conceded to backs.
Game Script – Carlton backs, North Melbourne midfielders
VALUE PLAYS
Alex Cincotta ($6,000) / Lachlan Cowan ($6,000) are two minimum priced options who should get every opportunity in this matchup against the Saints. As noted the Saints give up the most in the league to backs by a country mile and anytime you have players in the $6k range playing off the half back they are worth consideration. You can either link them both up together and have salary to spend up elsewhere or link one of them up with a higher priced Carlton back.
Marc Pittonet ($7,940) will assume the bulk of the ruck duties with Tom De Koning only an emergency. This year Pittonet has posted his highest score of 72 when he received his highest number of centre bounces (71%). This round should be his biggest role in the ruck yet, with only Jack Silvangi in the team to chop out. Rowan Marshall is a positive matchup as well for Pittonet giving up above league average fantasy points to his opponents and above league average in hit outs.
MID-PRICED PLAYS
Jacob Weitering ($10,040) / Mitch McGovern ($10,760) … this is the dream setup here with both Weitering and McGovern showing capability to rack up solid scores for their price point, while also facing the team that gives up enormous scores to key defenders in St Kilda. The interesting point is that Weitering and McGovern typically score well in the same game, against Richmond Weitering posted 95 points and McGovern posted 93, then against North Melbourne Weitering posted 85 and McGovern posted 93 again. This indicated a decent correlation and I think it is certainly an option to roster both in the same team.
PREMIUM PLAYS
Luke Davies-Uniacke ($15,910) has had a few down games after an explosive start to the season. That is a positive for daily fantasy as we have seen his price drop under the $16k mark right as he comes into the best matchup in the league for his position.
Touk Miller ($16,070) is as consistent as the day is long, with only one game under 100 points from five matches this season. He has shown in past years huge upside that is capable of winning you a large tournament, and while the Suns conceded a lot of points to midfielders, North Melbourne aren’t too far behind giving up the third most in the league. I love that the Suns are almost 25 point favourites in this matchups, indicating they should get plenty of the ball.
