AFL

We wind up AFL Gather Round with another fun three-game slate this Sunday. The slate will get started with Geelong vs West Coast at Adelaide Oval in what is will likely be a game stacking gold mine for daily fantasy players, before we move out to Norwood Oval for a contest between GWS and Hawthorn. The game that caps the entire round, however, is the game of the season thus far, with the undefeated St Kilda facing the premiership favourites Collingwood. Fantasy or not, this is not a game to miss!

Draftstars as always, has all the daily fantasy lovers covered with a massive $75,000 guaranteed main contest and a wide variety of other contests, including qualifiers to the $750,000 AFL Star Final!

Where to Attack?

AFL Data Tools

If you have been reading all year, you already know what we are going to say here. Every slate that features the Saints this season you can lock in loading up your teams on their opponent's defenders. Their structure under Ross Lyon has been conceding the most points in the league to backs by over 20 points per player above league average. This has been really predominant in the key backs.

AFL Data Tools

Plenty of options on this slate up forward with the Hawks giving up 70 points per player this season, the most in the league. We also have West Coast who are giving up 67 points per player, which is over 6 points above league average. I will be looking to stack up the Cats forwards on this slate, as they are favoured to win by over 47 points, while the Hawks are expected to have a much closer match against the Giants.

AFL Data Tools

There are two solid options to target in the ruck on this slate with Sydney giving up 99 points per game this season to the opposition number one ruckman, while West Coast are not far behind conceding 95 per game.

Game Script – Geelong game stacks – particularly midfielders and forwards

VALUE PLAYS

Oliver Henry ($7,710) has been in ripping form up forward as a new recruit for the Cats this season. He has kicked 2 goals in three of his four games, including last week where he came on as the sub, played just 50% game time and racked up 53 fantasy points. This game should be a similar type of win for the Cats and I will be looking to finding value from their cheap forwards to pair alongside the tall fellas.

Nathan Murphy ($6,180)I would normally say this could be a nice point of difference, but most experienced players are likely onto the key defenders against the Saints play by now. That said, there are more options than just Murphy and I will be looking to eek out as much value as I can in this play in order to pay up for a few premiums that I love on this slate.

MID-PRICED PLAYS

Max Holmes ($12,450) is really starting to grow into the season after a huge amount of hype to end last year and through this preseason. He already proved last year that he has exceptional capability on the outside as wingman, but the Cats have also brought him onto the inside during patches this year, attending around 30-45% of their centre bounces. I love bringing him into my Geelong stacks as a mid priced player on this slate, fresh off a 99 point game in the demolition job against the Hawks last week.

PREMIUM PLAYS

Jeremy Cameron ($15,190) is one of the few Cats that can hold his head up high every week this year despite Geelong’s surprise slow start. He has arguably been the best player in the league through the first month, kicking 18 goals from 4 games. This should be another total fill up for Cameron, with the Cats favoured by over 47 points and the Eagles giving up the third most points in the league to forwards (they also have a history of getting killed by key forwards). Both Cameron and Hawkins are very obvious options in this matchup, and there is potential to play them both in the same line-up if you can find the value elsewhere to afford it.

Josh Kelly ($15,870)not a Cat, but Kelly is still too cheap for his role and performance level so far this season. Averaging 108 points, which includes a 91 point game in round one where he was subbed with a quarter to go due to injury. There will be a ton of attention on Geelong stacks on this slate, but let’s not forget that the Giants are going up against one of the league’s worst teams as well and Kelly should do whatever he wants in that matchup.
