Weather

Adelaide

Melbourne

Sydney

The weather looks perfect for football in Adelaide and Sydney, albeit a little warm. There is a pretty certain chance of rain in Melbourne, which will only impact the game at the MCG with Marvel to be under the roof if required. That said, the level of rain during the game shouldn’t be too strong to have a major impact on the contest paritclalry with the drainage at the MCG. Keep an eye on the conditions as the game or slate lock approaches and adjust acocoridngly if it should be too wet.

Where to Attack?

Another week, another target the Saints with backs. Get used to this being a consistent theme all season with the way Ross Lyon has the Saints structured up. As we have mentioned each week, the defensive approach behind the ball has left opponents with additional men in their back line and no other avenues to attach than chip the ball across half back. The Saints have conceded 88 points per player to defenders this year, which is an absolutely remarkable amount as shown by the fact that it is over 22 points above the league average.

The Suns got their first win last week in a huge upset against the reigning premiers, however they are still getting killed through the midfield. Through three games this season they have given up 92 points per player to opposition midfielders, which is almost 11 points above league average. Rostering Saints midfielders on this slate is likely to be a popular play and potentially very profitable.

The Western Bulldogs continue to get carved up by forwards this season, particularly key forwards. Through three games they are giving up 9 points per player above league average and if you isolate the top three scorers at the position forwards are scoring 86 points per game.

Game Script – Gold Coast backs, St Kilda midfielders, Richmond forwards

VALUE PLAYS

Marcus Windhager ($7,990)… let us down to a degree last year, but as always I will back the truck over this pick. He is getting opportunity through the midfield and this is the best matchup in the league for inside midfielders. He will likely put some time into Rowell or Miller in this matchup which will both draw him to the ball and present the opportunity for tackles.

Sam Collins ($8,880) will be my point of difference value play in the Gold Coast back line that I will back stacking up on this slate. He should link well with other options including Darcy McPherson and Will Powell. Collins already showed his upside this year with a game over 90 points.

MID-PRICED PLAYS

Tom Lynch ($10,400) will be one of my point of difference plays on this slate. As we noted above the Bulldogs have been getting killed by forwards this season and this is trend that dates back to last year, especially with key forwards. It has been a slow start to the year for Lynch, but we all know he has slate breaking upside up to the 150 point mark if he gets hold of a team and kicks a bag and this would be one of the better opportunities for that to happen when we consider the key defenders that the Bulldogs have on offer.

Josh Rachele ($10.520) has seen a progressive increase in midfield time each game so far this season, which culminated in over 50% of the centre bounce attendances last week. The Crows are resting Sam Berry who had been one of the more consistent players for the Crows in attending the centre bounces and playing through the midfield, which will open even more opportunity for both Rachele and Jordan Dawson. Rachele has already shown this season he can go over 100 points, which would be around that 10x value return at this mid ranged price point.

PREMIUM PLAYS

Brad Crouch ($16,640) draws the best matchup in the league for a midfielder, especially an inside mid, in a game where the Saints will be without their best inside midfielder in Jack Steele. We saw last week this resulted in Crouch assuming a much bigger role for the team and notched up his highest score of the season in 122 fantasy points. He has the upside to win you a big tournament at this price point.
