Weather

Melbourne – Showers, possible storm, 19 degrees.

Melbourne is set to get drenched on Friday with up to 30mm of rain forecast. However, this game will be played in the dry under the roof at Marvel Stadium, so pick your line-ups freely!

Where To Attack?

Despite starting the season with a couple of wins, the Kangaroos have been leaking fantasy points right across the park, ranking third for total points against. With Carlton entering this match as heavy favourites, I expect Blues stacks to be a popular strategy on this slate.

One area where North Melbourne have been particularly easy to score points against is down back. Opposition defenders have feasted on the Roos in 2023, but the ball is likely to live in North’s defence tomorrow, so it will be interesting to see how DFS players approach this line.

Game Script – Carlton stacks

VALUE PLAYS

Darcy Tucker (DS $6,000) isn’t a sexy play, but he may well be a necessary one given the lack of exciting value plays on this slate. Tucker has averaged 60+ in four seasons across his career, including an average of 72 in 2019, so he has the points on the board. A 60+ score tomorrow would be a 10x value return, which is all you can ask for.

MID PRICED PLAYS

Charlie Curnow (DS $11,800) is well poised to kick a massive bag tomorrow, which can only mean good things for his fantasy output. The Carlton spearhead has averaged 74 so far in 2023, which is solid enough, but he should far exceed that against a Kangaroos defence missing McKay and Logue. Harry McKay put up 110 against the Roos last year, could tomorrow be Charlie’s day?

Bailey Scott (DS $10,240) – I’m not going to lie, tomorrow’s slate is a tricky one. Scott rarely figures in my thinking, but he has a couple of things going for him tomorrow. The North Melbourne outside runner averages over 79 against the Blues and historically favours playing at Marvel Stadium. On a single-game slate, Scott could be a money maker with low ownership.

PREMIUM PLAYS

Jack Ziebell (DS $12,890) is one of the few non-midfield premiums on this slate, sneaking in at under $13k. Having reclaimed his role as a distributing defender this year, Ziebell has produced two scores of 109 to go with a 78, and he should see plenty of the ball down back tomorrow. While Jack’s partner in crime Sheezel also appeals, he is now priced at $15k, which is a lot to pay for a guy who has played just three games of AFL footy.

Patrick Cripps (DS $15,580) was at his best last weekend, racking up 42 disposals for 111 DFS points. The Carlton skipper will be keen to build on that form on Friday, and he has the best average of any Blues player against North Melbourne across his career.
