Melbourne and Port Adelaide will enter their final fixture firmly entrenched in the top four, while Sydney and GWS will be eager to improve their position ahead of an action-packed September.

Weather

Adelaide – Partly cloudy. 17 degrees.

Sydney – Mostly sunny. 20 degrees.

Melbourne – Cloudy. 17 degrees.

Mild and dry conditions are forecast across the country on Sunday, so all three matches should reach their completion without any rain falling. As such, all players are viable on this slate.

Where To Attack?

Over the last five rounds Richmond have been second only to the Western Bulldogs for fantasy points conceded, giving up an average of 1627 to their opposition. The Tigers have opted for an inexperienced lineup for their final match against Port Adelaide, so I expect the Power to win handsomely and rack up plenty of DFS points in the process.

There are quite a few ruck options on this slate, with Port Adelaide, Sydney and Richmond all renowned for conceding points in this position. However, with both the Power and Tigers selecting two rucks, I think the best route is to target Sydney with Melbourne’s solo ruckman – Max Gawn.

Game Script – Port Adelaide stacks

VALUE PLAYS

Francis Evans (DS $7,070) has managed nine games for the Power this season, featuring as the substitute in several of those. However, when Evans has been given full minutes, he has shown glimpses of quality, producing DFS scores of 75, 62 and 61. I expect this game to be very one-sided, so Port’s livewire forward should be able to hit the scoreboard and achieve 8-10x value here.

MID PRICED PLAYS

Tom Papley (DS $10,130) has featured heavily in Sydney’s midfield rotation over the last month, with CBAs topping 60%. Sunday’s encounter has high stakes for the Swans who are looking to sew up a home final, and in his current fantasy friendly role, highlighted by two 80+ scores in recent weeks, I can see Papley playing a pivotal role.

Xavier Duursma (DS $9,880) has worked his way back into form since returning from injury, only dropping below 70 once since the middle of July. As an outside player, Duursma should be able to feature in plenty of attacking plays with the Power likely to get on top in this one.

PREMIUM PLAYS

Zak Butters (DS $16,160) has shot into Brownlow contention after an excellent end to the home-and-away season, with scores of 130, 121 and 113 in his last three matches. Given the individual accolade that is on the line and the fact that Port should dominate the Tigers (who give up plenty of points to midfielders), I’m expecting Butters to be one of the top scorers on this slate.

Max Gawn (DS $15,410) didn’t quite dominate the way I expected him to in game 200 last weekend, but I’m going back to the well this Sunday for the match against Sydney. The Swans have leaked points to rucks all season and Max has fantastic history against them, so a score of 120+ is well in reach here.
