Another stunning round of the 2023 AFL Premiership Season will come to a close with three matches on Sunday, headlined by a mini final between Carlton and St Kilda.

The Blues and Saints have both toiled hard for a top eight spot this season, however the closeness of the competition dictates that at least one of these sides may well miss out.

Draftstars have put up a $60,000 Guaranteed Main Contest, as well as a wide variety of other lower stakes options with big prize pools.

Weather

Hobart – Cloudy. 15 degrees.

Melbourne – Cloudy. 14 degrees.

Perth – Partly cloudy. 21 degrees.

Cloud cover is forecast across the country on Sunday, but there is little chance of any rain impacting the matches in Hobart, Melbourne and Perth. As such, construct your DFS lineups with freedom.

Where To Attack?

Plenty will be stacking Carlton defenders against the Saints on Sunday, as we tend to do every weekend. St Kilda tend to allow opposition defenders plenty of room to play kick-to-kick, and that’s something that the Blues love to do, as one of the highest possession teams in the league.

Up forward, Melbourne goalkickers will be popular considering that North Melbourne have conceded the most points in this area over the last five weeks. While the return of Alistair Clarkson to the coaches box should see a response from the Kangaroos, I still fancy the in-form Demons to get on top and give the forwards plenty of supply in this one.

Game Script – Carlton backs, Melbourne forwards

VALUE PLAYS

Harrison Petty (DS $8,520) produced a career best performance up forward last weekend, kicking six goals for 117 DFS points against Richmond. While that was a once in a blue moon effort from Petty, his confidence will be through the roof and North Melbourne present an excellent matchup for him to kick another bag of goals.

MID PRICED PLAYS

Brodie Kemp (DS $10,510)Kemp has put together a solid season in the Blues side, averaging 70 DFS points. The defender has made his name as a top interceptor and the Saints are the perfect matchup for this type of player, conceding bulk marks to backs every week. With four 80+ scores already this season, Kemp has shown that he has the ceiling to justify his asking price.

Blake Acres (DS $11,870) is a different type of player to Kemp, but he should also see a boost from St Kilda’s defensive game style. Despite playing his best games at the start of the campaign, Acres has still managed to average 87 over the course of the season, and he should be pumped to perform against his former side.

PREMIUM PLAYS

Christian Petracca (DS $16,450)What a season this man has had. With an average of 108 DFS points, Petracca will undoubtedly be in the conversation for the Brownlow Medal come season’s end, and he has made a habit of beating up on the weaker teams. With that in mind, I expect Trac to extend his unbeaten ton run to 10 games in a row on Sunday.

Hugh McCluggage (DS $14,500) With young star Will Ashcroft out injured, McCluggage was forced to take on greater responsibility in Brisbane’s midfield last week, resulting in a score of 115. I expect this to continue for the rest of the campaign, and with four 100+ scores in his last five games, McCluggage is primed to step up his output in the lead up to finals.
