Weather

Melbourne – Cloudy. 13 degrees.

Adelaide – Cloudy. 14 degrees.

Sydney – Shower or two. 21 degrees.

It’s going to be chilly in Melbourne and Adelaide on Saturday, but with no rain forecast the conditions should be excellent for free-flowing football. On the other hand, a couple of showers could hit Sydney, so keep your eye on the radar in the lead up to the opening bounce.

Where To Attack?

As a long season begins to take its toll, the young Hawks have begun to fall away, losing matches and conceding plenty of fantasy points. Hawthorn are second on the points conceded chart for the last five rounds, so Collingwood stacks could be a popular play on Saturday’s slate.

This is shaping up as a great slate to target rucks, with several teams ranking high on points against to big men. In particular, I fancy the Essendon and Geelong ruckmen on this slate, as Tom Hickey is returning this week for Sydney. Focusing in on Rhys Stanley, the Power have conceded 92 points per game to opposition rucks and Dante Visentini has played just a handful of games.

Game Script – Collingwood, Essendon stacks

VALUE PLAYS

Elijah Tsatas (DS $6,000) will make his long-awaited debut this weekend for the Bombers, after an impressive run of form in the VFL. Last year’s number five pick has averaged more than 25 touches in the twos, and this weekend he will face the worst side in the main game, which bodes well for a strong fantasy return first up.

MID PRICED PLAYS

Nick Hind (DS $9,350) has scored well since transitioning from substitute to starter for the Bombers, producing an 87 last weekend against the Swans. Hind is taking his fair share of the kick-ins at the moment with Jordan Ridley out, boosting his scoring, and the Eagles will provide him with plenty of chances to distribute the ball freely from half-back.

Jeremy Howe (DS $9,920) was nearly the hero last week against Carlton, booting three goals for 98 DFS points in the ultimate swingman’s game. Hawthorn have struggled at both ends of the ground in recent times, so Howe’s aerial prowess will be in full force again on Saturday. With three 80+ scores to his name in seven games this year, Howe is a great value option on this slate.

Peter Wright (DS $10,800) Injury delayed Wright’s start to the 2023 campaign, and he has produced mixed form since coming into the side averaging 63 DFS points. With that being said, key forwards have absolutely beat up on the Eagles this year and Jeremy McGovern is the only recognised key defender in the side with Tom Barrass and Rhett Bazzo out injured. As such, a big bag could be on the cards for two metre Peter.

PREMIUM PLAYS

Zach Merrett (DS $17,390) Essendon are heavy favourites to defeat West Coast on Saturday and I expect their midfielders to rack it up under the roof at Marvel Stadium. Merrett is Essendon’s premier midfielder, averaging 113 DFS points, and he is fresh off a 140 last week against the Swans. While the Eagles may employ a tagger, I’m happy to back Zach in for another huge return.
