Round 20 of the 2023 AFL Premiership Season will conclude with another huge three-game slate, as teams at both the top and bottom of the table do battle.

Richmond will host Melbourne in a blockbuster at the MCG, while West Coast and North Melbourne will fight to avoid the wooden spoon in a bottom of the table clash at Optus Stadium.

Draftstars have put up a $60,000 Guaranteed Main Contest, as well as a wide variety of other lower stakes options with big prize pools.

Weather

Melbourne – Sunny morning. Late shower or two, 19 degrees.

Perth – Shower or two, 19 degrees.

There is a chance of rain in both locations on Sunday, however any precipitation is unlikely to have a bearing on the football being played.

Where To Attack?

We’ve been saying it all season, stack defenders against St Kilda. Ross Lyon has the Saints playing a defensive style of football in which the forwards push back on turnover, so opposition defenders have been able to rack it up all year. That is especially the case when the Saints win the midfield battle, which is a possibility today against the tiring Hawks youngsters.

At the other end of the ground, North Melbourne and West Coast both give up the most points in the league to forwards, which is not a surprise given their lowly status. I predict that the Kangaroos will take home four points here, so it could be their goalkickers that provide the most value on this slate.

Game Script – Hawthorn backs, North Melbourne forwards

VALUE PLAYS

Jack Darling (DS $7,490) is the best of a bad bunch when it comes to value options on this slate. The experienced forward has averaged just 54 DFS points this season, but he has produced scores of 86 and 62 in the last fortnight. Furthermore, he should benefit from the best matchup in the league on Sunday, with North boasting questionable key defenders.

MID PRICED PLAYS

Nick Larkey (DS $9,230)Larkey has had a solid season considering North’s woes, averaging 54 points per game. While he may seem like poor value at this price point considering Darling’s identical output, West Coast have conceded HUGE scores to opposition key forwards this season, with both Charlie Curnow and Taylor Walker booting 10 goals against them. As such, it’s worth a punt.

Lloyd Meek (DS $9,010) will enter Sunday’s game against the Saints as Hawthorn’s #1 ruck, with Ned Reeves missing due to suspension. That primes the ex-Docker for an uptick in fantasy output, and in matches where Meek has had 30 hitouts or more he has produced fantasy scores of 95 and 73. Rowan Marshall may be a tough matchup, but the word on the street is that the big man is playing sore so Meek could get on top.

PREMIUM PLAYS

Luke Davies-Uniacke (DS $15,870)In the last three weeks LDU has found his best form, scoring 122, 138 and 104. The Eagles are unlikely to employ a tagger this week and with plenty on the line I expect North’s young gun to be fired up and return a huge score against weak opposition.

Jarman Impey (DS $12,850) Plenty of DFS players will flock to Hawthorn defenders against the Saints this week, so how can you stand out from the crowd while trusting the data? The answer is, look away from the obvious selection on this slate that is James Sicily. At a far reduced price, Impey has pumped out four tons in six weeks and he will get involved in plenty of the Hawthorn kick-to-kick chains down back. He also has a great ceiling, with scores of 124 and 118 to his name in 2023.
