Weather

Melbourne – Showers easing, 16 degrees.

Perth – Showers, 19 degrees.

Cool temperatures and a small amount of rain is expected in both Melbourne and Perth on Sunday. Given that the rain is unlikely to be persistent or heavy, it shouldn’t have too much of an impact on the fantasy output of players on this slate.

Where To Attack?

North Melbourne have failed to win a match in their last 13 attempts, and it reflects in the fantasy scores they have conceded. The Kangaroos are second to only West Coast when it comes to leaking points to opposition midfielders, so it’s safe to say that Geelong midfield stacks will be popular on this slate, especially considering the Cats are playing at their fortress.

As you’d expect, the Roos are also giving up big numbers to forwards. While Jeremy Cameron may be out of the Geelong side, the likes of Hawkins, Rohan and co. will be licking their lips ahead of this matchup. Personally, I think North can keep this game competitive, but if you believe that the recent trends will continue, stack away!

Game Script – Geelong stacks

VALUE PLAYS

Jack Bowes (DS $8,520) has had a stop-start first season at Geelong, appearing in just nine games with some of those as the substitute. Nevertheless, the ex-Sun has managed four 77+ scores playing in a variety of roles, and if the Cats kick away on Sunday he is likely to be around that mark again which is great at this price.

MID PRICED PLAYS

Max Holmes (DS $11,150)Holmes is another Cat who hasn’t quite his straps this year, averaging 76 DFS points. A consistent member of Geelong’s CBA rotation, Holmes should be able to capitalise on a prime matchup against North Melbourne, and while he hasn’t scored very well recently a 100+ ceiling is there.

Matthew Kennedy (DS $10,510) is a curious case. The Carlton onballer has been on the fringes of the midfield group for a while, and when he has been given a chance in the guts it has produced mixed returns. Kennedy is another player who has a proven 100+ ceiling, but in order to hit that he will need to see high CBA numbers on Sunday.

PREMIUM PLAYS

Sean Darcy (DS $14,780)Carlton will head into this game with no recognised ruckman. That’s right… it’s Shrek time. Darcy has scored 82 and 126 since returning from injury, and there’s little doubt that he will have huge hitout numbers against the likes of Silvagni and Lewis Young. A little bit of rain will only help Shrek’s cause, so it’s hard to see him scoring poorly.

Harry Sheezel (DS $14,400) has been incredible in his first year of AFL footy, averaging 98 points. The tons may have dried up in recent weeks, but I expect Sheezel to return to his fantasy friendly role at half back in the absence of Jack Ziebell, who has been dropped. With the ball likely to spend plenty of time in North Melbourne’s backline, pick Sheezel with confidence.
