Weather

Melbourne – Possible shower, 14 degrees.

Gold Coast – Sunny, 25 degrees.

Winter has well and truly arrived in Melbourne, but it’s a different story up north where a warm 25 degrees is forecast for Sunday along with blazing sunshine. Neither game should be overly impacted by rain, so pick your lineups without worry.

Where To Attack?

Given that the Hawks sit near the foot of the table, it’s unsurprising that they have given up the fourth most DFS points this year. With that being said, Hawthorn have given a better account of themselves in recent weeks, resulting in less fantasy points against, so don’t go all-in on this trend if you think they can challenge the Suns.

The Suns are having one of their best seasons to date, but their historical midfield struggles are starting to return. With Touk Miller out, Gold Coast have conceded the second most points to opposition midfielders over the last five weeks. However, they come up against the Hawks this week – a soft matchup.

Game Script – Gold Coast stacks

VALUE PLAYS

Oleg Markov (DS $7,030) has mostly played a bit-part role for his new club this year, appearing as the substitute several times. The ex-Sun is named in the 22 this week, so with elevated minutes it’s safe to assume that he can outperform his average of 43 to register a near 10x value score.

MID PRICED PLAYS

Jack Lukosius (DS $11,370)Lukosius has been in a hot run of form lately, producing two 90+ scores in his last two matches. Gold Coast’s third tall is well placed to thrive again on Sunday, as the Hawks don’t really have a suitable match up for him given their lack of size in defence. With this in mind, and considering the Suns are favourites, Lukosius could hit the ton for the first time this season.

Darcy Cameron (DS $12,920) has eased back into things well after a long injury layoff, quickly building his scores back up to premium levels. Cameron is clearly at the top of Collingwood’s ruck food chain, so he will likely shoulder the bulk of CBAs for the rest of the season, which makes a 90+ average highly likely. Although not an easy matchup, Reilly O’Brien will struggle to handle Collingwood’s tall tag team.

PREMIUM PLAYS

Rory Laird (DS $16,380)Despite struggling with multiple niggling injuries over the first half the season, Laird has still managed to average 107 DFS points, which speaks to his quality. The Adelaide star has starred against Collingwood in the past, and with three 120+ scores in his last four games, he is the most reliable premium on this slate by miles.

Noah Anderson (DS $15,730) It’s been a strange past month for Anderson, who has dropped off after producing a purple patch in April. After he was moved out of the CBAs last week, many fantasy coaches will be doubting Anderson’s role, but I believe he will be back in the thick of it this week against a leaky Hawks midfield. Anderson loves playing at home, and he should easily clear 110 if the Suns get up as expected.
