Weather

Sydney – Shower or two, 20 degrees.

Melbourne – Partly cloudy, 18 degrees.

Relatively dry conditions are forecast for Sunday with only Sydney a chance of receiving any rain. Even if the skies do open at Giants Stadium, the precipitation is unlikely to impact the contest significantly.

Where To Attack?

The Tigers have had a torrid season so far and the stat sheet is starting to show it. Richmond have conceded the second most points to opposition defenders in their previous five fixtures, so this looks like a great avenue to attack on Sunday’s slate

While Richmond may be giving up plenty of DFS points across the ground, they should have an advantage in the ruck position. GWS have conceded a whopping 112 points on average to rucks in the last five rounds, nine points more than any other team. As such, Toby Nankervis could be set for a day out.

Game Script – Essendon stacks

VALUE PLAYS

Darcy Tucker (DS $7,240) returns from injury this week after a two-week layoff, and he is likely to immediately be a popular DFS play. The versatile workhorse has scored 66+ four times this season, including scores of 79 and 76, so he is well placed to push for a 10x value performance against Essendon who leak more fantasy points than average.

MID PRICED PLAYS

Jake Stringer (DS $11,520)I’m waiting on a ceiling game from this man, who has been known to break slates in the past. Stringer has been heavily involved in the midfield rotation for Essendon this year and the Bombers should easily coast past North. If that eventuates, Stringer could kick a bag of goals to boost his score up towards 100.

Callan Ward (DS $9,560) took on extra midfield minutes in Josh Kelly’s absence last week, registering 64% CBAs for a DFS score of 64. While that headline number isn’t impressive, Ward has thrived in this role in the past and it’s easy to forget that he started the season with scores of 95, 81 and 80. If the role remains, I expect the Giants leader to easily clear 80 points again this weekend.

PREMIUM PLAYS

Toby Nankervis (DS $15,590) I went to Nank last week and he didn’t let me down, posting a DFS score of 107. The Richmond ruckman has missed the ton just once this season and this week he comes up against the leaky GWS ruck division, so 100 should be his floor. Any rainfall in Sydney will only boost Nankervis’ potential output.

Tim Taranto (DS $17,010) has had a stellar first season at Richmond, clearing 100 DFS points in every single game. Given the ex-Giant is priced at $17k, we will need more than that this Sunday, but I fully expect Taranto to score big as he has posted 120+ in three consecutive games and faces his former side this week. That’s right, embrace the revenge game narrative.
