Weather

Melbourne – A few showers, 15 degrees.

Adelaide – Showers, 17 degrees.

For what feels like the first time this year, rain is likely to heavily impact this slate. Both Melbourne and Adelaide are expecting showers on Sunday, and Marvel Stadium is the only venue that is likely to stay dry. As such, contested midfielders should thrive today, while mark-heavy scorers will suffer.

Where To Attack?

As one of the worst teams in the competition, North Melbourne have been prone to conceding plenty of DFS points across the park this year. Collingwood are 53-point favourites against the Kangaroos this week, so stacking Collingwood players in dry conditions at Docklands will be a popular play.

Looking elsewhere, Port Adelaide have given up the most points to opposition rucks this year, which bodes well for a Toby Nankervis ceiling game. The Power are conceding 104 points per game on average to #1 ruckmen, and in wet conditions Nank will have plenty of chances to rack up the hitouts.

Game Script – Collingwood stacks

VALUE PLAYS

Will Phillips (DS $8,420) took on greater responsibility in North Melbourne’s midfield last week, attending more than 70% of CBAs for a score of 54. This week he comes up against a Collingwood midfield that is regressing towards the trend of conceding points to midfielders last year, so if he can maintain his role, he should be good for 70+.

MID PRICED PLAYS

Chayce Jones (DS $10,160) has delivered on his potential in 2023, averaging 71 DFS points. More importantly, the Crows youngster has not gone below 80 points at home all year, which is a fantastic return at this price point.

Darcy Moore (DS $10,370) has been on fire over the last month, and he produced a season-high 110 points last week against Carlton. North Melbourne tend to concede plenty of points to defenders and Moore should be able to take plenty of intercept marks, leading him to another 80+ score under the roof.

PREMIUM PLAYS

Toby Nankervis (DS $14,990) is our way into the rucks vs Port scoring trend this week. Richmond’s big man returned from injury with a 94 last week, but before that he posted four tons on the trot. Add in the wet weather, and Nankervis could be set for a huge 120+ ceiling game on Sunday.

Zak Butters (DS $15,610) produced a career best performance last weekend against Melbourne, racking up 41 possessions for 148 DFS points in wet and wild conditions. The weather is likely to be similar on Sunday and Richmond never tag, so it’s highly likely that Butters will get off the chain again and push for his fourth ton in succession.
