Melbourne vs St Kilda at the MCG (MEL -20.5, Total 161.5)

Carlton vs Adelaide at MARVEL Stadium (CAR -20.5, Total 174.5)

Weather

Melbourne

Looks like good conditions for football at the MCG on Sunday. Chance of some very light rain, but nothing the drainage at the G won’t handle. The other contest is at Marvel, which will be under cover if the weather poses any threat.

Where to Attack?

The top two teams for conceding points to defenders are matched up on this slate. This will make for an interesting contest as both sides will structure up similarly. I expect Melbourne to get on top of the contest and that will likely lead for more Saints possessions in the backline.

Game Script – Carlton stacks (20-point favourites at home)

VALUE PLAYS

Sam Berry ($7,060) is getting plenty of opportunity through he midfield this season attending between 35-70% of the teams centre bounces of the last three rounds. Last week he hit what is probably his ceiling game in the 80 point range and with Crouch getting dropped this week it opens up plenty of time in the middle for Berry to capitalise on.

Jack Carroll ($8,630) debuted in sensational fashion last week collecting 19 touches and kicking 1 goal on his way to 87 fantasy points. He was playing up the ground on the wing and should continue to get that role again this week with potential to go through the middle with George Hewitt still out.

MID PRICED PLAYS

Reilly O’Brien (DS $13,110) draws an elite matchup in the ruck this week against youngster Tom De Koning. It has been an up and down season for O’Brien this year with ceiling games in the 120 range and low scores in the 50 point range. His best games have been in the matchups against the weaker ruckman in the competition so I will back him to be able to take full advantage against De Koning this week.

PREMIUM PLAYS

Sam Walsh (DS $15,090) hasn’t been an fantasy dominant as he was last year, but this is to be expected given the fact that the Blues now have a formidable midfield with plenty of mouths to feed (not to mention a resurgent Patrick Cripps collecting 35 touches each week). That said, he has still posted 112+ in three of his six games and hasn’t gone lower than 89 all year. Carlton should comfortably beat the Crows at Marvel and as a side this year they have shown a game style that racks up the fantasy points. I will be looking to stack the Blues midfield, starting with Walsh.
