Where to Attack?

All teams have played five matches now and shown their style and method for this year.

A staple of this season so far has been Hawthorn giving away bulk statistics to opposition midfielders. It has been an easy avenue to target in most rounds, although last week in their win against Geelong the Hawks were able to contain the Cats ball winners nicely.

Hawthorn have also given up plenty of points full stop, topping the charts for points against. That makes plenty of Sydney players tempting prospects on this slate.

Game Script – Sydney mids, Collingwood forwards

VALUE PLAYS

Ben Ronke ($6,000)

After starting his season as a substitute Ben Ronke has made a solid contribution as a small forward, scoring 52 and 79 in his last two games. It’s hard to forget Ronke’s AFL debut against the Hawks and if the Swans can get a roll on he should be able to return value.

Nathan Kreuger ($7,050)

The big Magpie has looked good in his first couple of games, providing a strong target for his side in the air. Collingwood are fancied to win on Monday and Kreuger will be well placed to score handsomely if that is the case.

MID PRICED PLAYS

Justin McInerny ($11,710)

McInerny has shown himself to be a much improved player in his few games this year, scoring 107 and 88 in his last two outings. The young talent has been given a licence to roam and accumulate the ball at will, giving him a role that is perfectly suited to taking advantage of Hawthorn’s deficiencies.

Peter Ladhams ($11,320)

Ladhams has taken quickly to the #1 ruck role at Sydney, scoring 112 last week. He will be up against the inexperienced Max Lynch on Monday, so there’s no reason why he can’t score similarly well in Tasmania.

PREMIUM PLAY

Brodie Grundy ($13,040)

Grundy hasn’t been his dominant self lately, and as a result sits at a low $13k. He particularly appeals on this slate due to his history against Essendon, which is very, very good. Grundy should have the better of Sam Draper, so can he recapture his elite status of old?
