There are just the two games fixtured today in the 2022 AFL season due to Easter scheduling, but both are set to be crackers. Carlton will host a winless Port Adelaide who are desperate to get off the mark this season. The Power bring much needed reinforcements in for this clash, although both teams will be without their star midfielders Patrick Cripps and Ollie Wines. Essendon welcome Fremantle to Marvel Stadium later in the day, in a matchup that the bookies can’t separate.

Carlton v Port Adelaide at the MCG (Carlton -7.5, 166.5)

Essendon vs Fremantle at Marvel Stadium (Fremantle -2.5, 168.5)

Melbourne

Another lovely day in Melbourne means we have nothing to worry about as DFS players!

Where to Attack?

All teams have played four matches now and shown their style and method for this year.

There aren’t many clear statistical areas to attack on this slate, which is exciting as we should see some diverse line-ups. One area of interest will be second tier mids against Port Adelaide. Port gives away the most points to ‘bottom 3’ midfielders, so considering Cripps is missing from Carlton’s midfield there will be points on offer.

Port also leaks the most points in the league to rucks. However, they have a new man in the job this week in Sam Hayes, who is a bit of an unknown. You would expect the returning Pittonet to have the better of the ruck duel, but it will be interesting to see how many DFS players punt on Hayes.

Game Script – Carlton Stacks

VALUE PLAYS

Nathan O’Driscoll ($7,260)

After starting as the sub in his first game O’Driscoll has pumped out scores of 60 and 109 playing an outside game. As such, he is a good bet for value here but will likely be chalky.

Ben Hobbs ($6,000)

Highly touted draft pick Ben Hobbs comes into the Essendon side. While he may not get much time in his preferred midfield position, you can’t bet against the talent of a high draft pick to produce value at minimum salary on a fast Marvel deck.

MID-PRICE PLAYS

Andrew McGrath ($11,720)

McGrath has transitioned back into the midfield rotation this season as injuries have left plenty of vacancies. While he has played a couple of different roles including tagging in the guts, he has produced two 100s from four matches and if he can do that here he is great value.

PREMIUM PLAYS

Sam Docherty ($14,940)

Docherty has been nothing short of exceptional since his return and has a lowest score of 95 to this point. He loves the wide open spaces of the MCG and shouldn’t fall short of that today.

Andrew Brayshaw ($17,190)

Brayshaw is threatening a breakout season and has produced huge points in the games he hasn’t been tagged this season. Unless Essendon send McGrath to him, I see Brayshaw having a 130+ day out here.
