Hawthorn vs Collingwood at the MCG (COL -9.5, Total 167.5)

Fremantle vs Brisbane at OPTUS Stadium (BRI -0.5, 160.5)

Weather

Melbourne

Perth

Melbourne looks like it will have a little rain in the morning, but they will have stopped by game time. At the MCG this should mean the conditions will be fine as it has arguably the best drainage of any ground in Australia. Keep an eye on conditions as the first bounce apporoahces, but I wouldn’t expect weather to impact the game too significantly.

Absolutely perfect football conditions in Perth… that game should be a cracker between two top four sides. Let’s play some fantasy football!

Where to Attack?

The Hawthorn vs Collingwood game should be a fantasy shootout. The Magpies give up the third post possessions in the league and Hawthorn get slaughtered through the midfield allowing the second most contested possessions in the league and get tackled more than any other club. Playing this game on the wide-open spaces of the MCG will only booster the scoring more and I will be looking to stack up this game in a variety of ways on this slate.

Both the Magpies and the Hawks are down their starting ruckman. For the Hawks they seem like they are down to whoever they can find around the club over 200cm. As a result it is not surprise that the Magpies have conceded the second most points to the position and the Hawks the fourth most this season.

Game Script – Collingwood midfield, ruck

VALUE PLAYS

Mason Cox ($7,300) is getting a reasonable split in the ruck right now as the Magpies are without Grundy. Cameron spends the bigger portion of the time there but as we saw last week, Cox managed to rack up 11 hit outs, 11 touches and kick a goal up forward to return a 73 point game. That is 10x his price point and this week he draws one of the easiest matchups in the league for rucks and forward in the Hawks.

Connor MacDonald ($6,810) has shown glimpses of his talent, but from a fantasy perspective has yet to actually hit that 10x range that we need at this price point. However, on this two game slate I love taking a player who gets a little bit of opportunity in the midfield and is in what will be the higher scoring fantasy game. Hawthorn have been getting destroyed by opposing midfields.

MID PRICED PLAYS

Taylor Adams ($12,980) price is as low as we have seen it in years in the $12k range, and he is still seeing between 60-80% of the Magpies centre bounces and has shown an upside of 118 points this season. This is literally the best matchup in the league for inside contested midfielders as the Hawks have given up the most points to the position and specifically the second most contested possessions in the league and the most tackles. If there was any matchup where we could expect a ceiling game form Adams this is it.

Darcy Cameron ($13,480)… you might be thinking I have already recommended Cox, but yes I think you can double up here and play both. One in the ruck and one up forward. As I noted above this is an elite matchup for rucks, but also one of the top matchups for forwards. Cameron will play a significant portion of the game in the ruck and also rest forward. Since taking over the role from Grundy he has posted 107, 112, 90, 115 and 94. He is rock solid and should hit a ceiling level type game in this matchup.

PREMIUM PLAYS

Jack Crisp ($15,620) is close to one of the most consistent fantasy performers in the league. His lowest score from the last 7 games is 99 points and he offers 130 point upside. For a price below $16K against the team that gives up the most points in the league to midfielders, this is a lock and load play.
