Carlton vs Sydney at MARVEL Stadium (SYD -1.5, 173.5)

Weather

We can put the weather to the back of our minds for this matchup given it is being played at Marvel. If there is any rain the roof will be shut and conditions will still be perfect! Let’s play some fantasy!

Where to Attack?

There are next to no obvious avenues to attack in this matchup. Carlton and Sydney have given up the third and fourth fewest fantasy points overall this season respectively. That said, if we look at the overall team stats we can note that while both sides restrict the oppositions fantasy scoring options, Carlton are the highest possession team in the league while Sydney play a much faster more direct style. So I would expect Carlton to win the fantasy scoring battle in this matchup regardless of the actual final score of the game.

Game Script – Carlton backs and midfielders

VALUE PLAYS

Liam Stocker ($8,190) is on debut for this season and looks to be sliding right into the Zac Williams role across halfback. The Blues will look to dominate the possession game as they have done all year and I think a lot of that will be across half back so I love linking up Stocker with one of their premium options like Docherty to get the scoring correlation.

MID PRICED PLAYS

Tom De Koning ($9,370) will continue as the number one ruck for the Blues this week and while his scores have not been turning heads, I would rather pay this price range for a 60 point game than spending up for the Sydney duo who appear to be splitting the role. Last week Hickey only attended 39% of the centre bounces, and neither him nor Ladhams topped 63 points.

Chad Warner ($13,850) has really started to hit that break out year form that had him high on everyone’s draft boards preseason. He has posted four straight 100+ points games in the last four weeks and continues to be a mainstay in a rather busy midfield at the Swans attending around 50% of the centre bounces each week.

PREMIUM PLAYS

Patrick Cripps ($15,430) has been the best player in the league so far this year. Before last week's 76 point game he had been at 112+ in every round (bar his one injured game). I expect him to bounce back this week in a big Friday night match at Marvel, which has been one of his better grounds. The last time he played Sydney he posted a 120 point performance.
