AFL 2021 Daily Fantasy Tips: Round 7 Tigers v Bulldogs
Friday Night Footy serves up an absolute rip snorter this week in Round 7 with a rampaging Western Bulldogs lineup taking on the wounded reigning premiers, the Richmond Tigers. The Bulldogs finished off the Giants last week to sit atop the ladder at 6-0, while the Tigers not only lost to the Demons to fall to 3-3, but they also lost their star player Dustin Martin to a 12 day enforced concussion break.
This one takes pride of place on Friday night and the major DFS platforms have plenty of contests to dive into, including:

Richmond v Western Bulldogs at MCG (WBD -10.5, 158.5)
Where to Attack?
We only have two defensive spots to fill in our lineups but given the huge numbers both teams are giving up to opposition defenders, they’re all in play on this slate. I’m leaning to the Tigers backs, especially the ones who get involved in cheap kick to kick after seeing Lachie Ash take 15 marks last week en route to 146 fantasy points against the Dogs.
Looking elsewhere for something to target, it’s worth noting that the Tigers are giving up plenty of uncontested ball this year. They allow the 3rd most uncontested possessions to their opposition, as well as the 3rd most uncontested marks. Given they sit among the league average when it comes to conceding contested possession, it may be wise to target the outside runners of the Dogs as opposed to the contested beasts.
Game script - Tigers backs, Bulldogs vultures
VALUE PLAYS
Jack Ross (DS $5,000, DK $3,000) has been on the fringe of this Richmond side for a couple of seasons but gets a go here with the injuries to Martin and Lambert. His last start 26 is better than it looks given he came on during the third quarter as the medical sub. Debutant Riley Collier-Dawkins will be popular at the min-price salary but Ross has 17 games experience to his advantage and a proven ability to go at least 10x at this price.
MID RANGE PLAYS
Bachar Houli (DS $11,370, DK $7,400) is wonderfully priced on this slate given an absolutely prime match-up for his skills. Houli has long been an extremely reliable member in this Richmond backline and the team is always eager to get the ball in his hands. Given the Bulldogs are happy to concede the ball to the opposition back half, Houli looks set to rack up a ton of possession behind the ball and is too cheap on both platforms.
Lachie Hunter (DS $11,170, DK $6,200) has been dealing with a role change this season which has seen him spend more time than usual in the forward part of the ground. That may change with the loss of Josh Dunkley to a shoulder injury, with a rejig of the side potentially opening up more time for him up on the wing. His price is quite reasonable given his recent output but with the potential for more midfield time and a matchup against a team conceding a lot of uncontested ball, this looks a fantastic spot for him.
PREMIUM PLAYS
Bailey Smith (DS $12,250, DK $8,200) hadn’t attended a centre bounce all season until the last quarter last week when Dunkley left the field. That could be an insight into his likely role against the Tigers and he has shown 100+ upside given similar opportunity in the past. His recent scores might help lower his ownership a tad but this looks a prime spot for him to kick-start his fantasy year.
Adam Treloar (DS $15,240, DK $10,200) took a bit to get accustomed to his new surroundings but has hit his straps, going over 100 in his past four games. He has continued to get increased opportunity through the midfield and while Dunkley’s loss probably won’t give him much of a boost, it definitely won’t hurt. He is relishing the lack of attention playing alongside the likes of Bontempelli and Macrae and a fifth straight ton looks more likely than not.
