GWS vs Western Bulldogs at MANUKA (WB -19.5, 154.5)

Weather

Absolutely perfect conditions for football this Friday night in Canberra with not a drop of rain forecast. Select away.

Where to Attack?

The Bulldogs have conceded the 4th fewest fantasy points so far this year overall, however if there is one area you can target them it is via the back line. So far this year they are giving up 73 points per player to the position, which is over 6 points above league average.

It is no surprise to see the Giants getting ripped apart in the ruck again this season. Through the first five weeks neither Matthew Flynn or Shane Mumford have looked like the solution as they have given up 88 points per game to oppositions number one ruckman (third highest in the league).

Game Script - GWS backs, Western Bulldogs midfielders and forwards

VALUE PLAYS

Nick Haynes (DS $8,370 DK $4,000) has seen a significant price drop this season as his role has not been quite as loose as the prior year. That said at this current price point he looks great value given he has already posted 70+ point scores twice this season. It is also an elite matchup for backs as detailed above and he makes an obvious value option to pair up with one of the more expensive defenders from the Giants.

MID PRICED PLAYS

Lachie Ash (DS $11,610 DK $8,400) is my preferred option to pair with Haynes. He is having somewhat of a break out in just his second season averaging 83 points per game and flashing a massive GPP winning ceiling of 122 points just two weeks against the Magpies. As we have mentioned throughout this preview backs are the one position that the Bulldogs have been leaking points to this year and after Ash posted just 69 point game last week his ownership will likely be lower this week.

Aaron Naughton (DS $11,460 DK $6,600) is starting to reach the potential everyone has seen in him through his first few years in the league. Averaging 85 points per game on the season, last week was his first game below 68 points (kicking cost him at 2 goals 3 behinds). Expect a strong rebound game this week as the Bulldogs are drawing the fifth best matchup for forwards in the league.

Callan Ward (DS $11,740 DK $8,000) It is hard to go past Ward again this week in the mid-priced range. Over the last two games he has attended over 80% of the centre bounces and averaged over 100 points in that stretch (including a ceiling game of 121).

PREMIUM PLAYS

Jackson Macrae (DS $15,670 DK $10,800) is our go to premium play anytime the Bulldogs play. As I mentioned last week I don’t think there is anyone safer from a fantasy perspective in the AFL right now. He has posted just one game under 110 points and that is looking like his floor game of 103. Throughout his career Macrae has averaged 104 fantasy points against the Giants and he has not gone under 100 points against them the last 6 times they have played.
