WEATHER WATCH

Melbourne

Adelaide

Looks like perfect weather conditions in both Melbourne and Adelaide tomorrow with only very minor sprinklings of rain that shouldn’t impact the games. Also the contests at Marvel will be under the roof, which means we can select out teams without concern.

Where to Attack

As surprising as Richmond’s ladder position this year is the fact that they have given up the most fantasy points in the league to midfielders in 2021. This is usually a spot reserved for teams that are in line for the wooden spoon. The last five weeks this has gotten even worse with the Tigers giving up 93 points per player during that patch. Gold Coast are sitting right behind them for points conceded, however over the last five rounds they have been much stingier.

We have the top three teams in the league to target with forwards on this slate with Carlton giving up the most points in the league and Gold Coast and Adelaide tied in second just behind them. It is the Crows who stand out on this slate, however, as they have started leaking a huge amount of points to the top three scoring players at the position (89 per player over the last five rounds). This is compounded on this slate by the fact that they are over 6 goal underdogs in their matchup with Port Adelaide.

VALUE PLAYS

Matt Rowell (DS $8,910) is starting to slowly build back some form with back to back 70+ point performances. He is showing a lot more intent and eventually he will pop with a score and you won’t want to miss that. His upside we have seen in the past is there with a ceiling of around 120+.

Tom De Koning (DS $8,760) has the second best matchup in the league on this slate against the Suns who have been giving up 92 points per game to the oppositions number one ruckman this year. They now have Zac Smith back, but this hasn’t appeared to change anything in terms of the matchup against the Suns this year. De Koning has shown upside of 90+ points, and before being injured in his last game was on a three game streak of 84, 66 and 91 as the number one ruck for the Blues.

MID PRICED PLAYS

Brayden Fiorini (DS $13,720) / Brandon Ellis (DS $12,670) continue to be under-priced with Fiorini on a streak of 5 straight games at over 101 fantasy points in his new role back in the midfield. He has been attending 50-70% of the centre bounces during this stretch and although it dipped slightly last week he should continue to see this level of opportunity.

Ellis on the other hand returns to provide that outside link up and he is well under priced for his form this season. He was averaging over 100 points before his injured impacted 10 point game, and his last three games before that were 125, 101 and 98.

Dion Prestia (DS $11,770) is purely a value play here, he is priced too cheap and as we saw last week where he posted 109 points he can easily return 10x value on this price point.

Matthew Kennedy (DS $10,960) has shown that when he plays through the midfield his upside is over 100 points, which is a great return for his price point. In his last three game she posted 109, 43 and 116, during this stretch his centre bounce attendances were 80%, 30% and 69%. This demonstrates his output in the midfield and there is no reason team wise to indicate he won’t continue to play the role he featured in last week.

PREMIUM PLAYS

Ollie Wines (DS $16,900) continues to have a career year averaging 111 fantasy points per game. From his last ten matches he has been a model of consistency with just two games under 100 points (both 96) and a relatively consistent ceiling during this stretch with three games of 140+. On this slate the Power are over 6 goal favourites and the Crows give up one of the highest amount of contested possessions in the league this season, which plays right into Wines game style.
