Where to Attack?

Throughout the season Collingwood have been the best team in the league to target with defenders; however, that has changed substantially in recent weeks. The Magpies have spent a much greater amount of time possessing the football, which has increased their own uncontested disposals while limiting the oppositions. Over the last five games they have allowed just 66 points per played, which would be just below league average. If this trend continues I would almost look to play the Magpies backs in this matchup.

It is the same story through the midfield. While Collingwood have been a great team to target all year, the change is game style has resulted in them conceding just 79 points per player over the past five weeks. This would be the third lowest mark in the league over the entire season.

VALUE PLAYS

Tom Sparrow (DS $6,330 DK $3,000)… last game the Demons were involved in, we tipped Sparrow noting that he was priced just above the minimum even though he was going at about 50 points per game when he played. Then he came out and dropped a 79 point game against the Lions. His price has bumped slightly, but on a slate where value will be hard to come by he is the safest play in this price range. He is seeing around 20-30% of centre bounces, which gives him rotations through the midfield and across the entire season this is an elite matchup for midfielders.

Trent Bianco (DS $8,150 DK $4,200) has been a sensation after debuting two weeks ago and posting back to back 70+ point games. He is able to take advantage of the Magpies new game style picking up uncontested possessions. Expect him to remain very popular at this price point (and arguably a solid fade in that regard if you are happy to take the risk).

MID PRICED PLAYS

Chris Mayne (DS $12,420 DK $9,000) has been the biggest beneficiary of the Magpies new game style. Racking up four straight games of 97+ points and back to back games over 118, he has relished in the uncontested possession build ups the Magpies are using. The SCG ground may make it more difficult, however the 97 point game was on the SCG against the Swans.

PREMIUM PLAYS

Max Gawn (DS $15,690 DK $10,400) is the biggest lock of a premium play you will find. Expect him to be 80+% owned as well. Gawn has had just two games this season under 100 points and on this slate draws a matchup with a second gamer in Max Lynch who just gave up 111 points to Reilly O’Brien. The SCG ground may lead to more stoppages as well, which should play right into Gawn’s hands from a fantasy perspective.

Jack Crisp (DS $14,570 DK $9,800) is another who has been massive beneficiary from the Magpies new game style. Not one to shy away from uncontested possessions Crisp has been racking up with 7 of his last 8 games at 97 points or higher. He has been used in the midfield a lot more attending between 60-90% of the Magpies centre bounces depending the week.
