Port Adelaide vs Geelong at ADELAIDE Oval (PTA -5.5, 149.5)

Weather

Absolutely perfect weather conditions to kick off finals weekend, which means you can pick your daily fantasty lineups without hesitation!

Where to Attack?

It is no real surpise when talking the second and third team in the league that there are not many obvious avenues to attack for fantasty scoring. Overall both sides are bottem three for points conceded this season and that is consistent across the postiions.

Geelong do lead the league in possessions and will focus on controlling the footall with uncontested play using the short hit up and setting up via the back line. For the Power to get the footbal they will need to win the contested battle.

Game Script – Geelong outside players and key forwards, Port Adelaide inside midfielders

VALUE PLAYS

Jake Kolodjashnij (DS $7,670)… value options are very slim on this slate and that is typically what we run into across the board for finals. Therefore playing your game scripts becomes key and I will be looking to stack up the Geelong backs in this matchup. As noted above the Cats have been the top team for disposals, particularly uncontested disposals, this season. Jake has gone under 60 fantasy points just once in the last six games an 8x return in this matchup will likely be sufficient value.

MID PRICED PLAYS

Rhys Standley (DS $11,380) is sole rucking and the cheapest ruck on this slate. This by itself almost makes things a no brainer, however he also has the better matchup with Port Adelaide consider 81 points per game to the oppositions number one ruck man this season, just above league average. Since Geelong turned the ruck duties back over to Stanley late in the season he has performed well from a fantasy perspective posting 109, 108 and 80 from his last three games.

Jeremy Cameron (DS $9,980)… the first time these two teams met this season (also at Adelaide Oval) Geelong’s key forwards dismantled the Power backline who struggle for height and the capability to lock down forwards one on one. Jeremey Cameron and Tom Hawkins combined for 9 goals and both topped the 100 fantasy point mark. Either key forwards make for good plays on this slate and I give the edge to Cameron who is slightly cheaper and is likely to get less attention than Hawkins.

Robbie Gray (DS $11,250) has looked great since returning from injury posting 83 and 100 in the last two games. He is a big game player and should see additional rotations through the midfield in the finals (he attended over 20% of the centre bounces last week).

PREMIUM PLAYS

Ollie Wines (DS $16,950) will stand out in a highly contested finals atmosphere and winning the contested ball is the avenue to score against Geelong who suffocate opposition from uncontested play as they dominate the ball themselves. In the first matchup Wines was the top scorer of the game, the only midfielder on either Port Adelaide or Geelong to top the 100 point mark.
