Brisbane vs Adelaide at the GABBA (BRI -33.5, 137.5)

Melbourne vs Geelong at the MCG (GEE -11.5, 133.5)

Hawthorn vs North Melbourne at MARVEL (HAW -9.5, 133.5)

Where to Attack

Melbourne are the competition benchmark right now for attacking with defenders. They have given up the most points in the league to the position this year and are conceding a massive 81 per game to the top three scorers. On the flip side I would be avoiding Hawks backs on this slate as North are struggling that position this year.

Every man and his dog is going to be stacking up the Lions on this slate and with good reason. The Crows have looked like the wooden spooners so far this year getting absolutely dismantled over the past two weeks by Port Adelaide and Gold Coast. They remain away in the hub for htis game and Brisbane come in as 5+ goal favourites. We saw what Lions stacks did to the hawks through the midfield last week and it will likely be a similar story this week with the Crows giving up the second most points to the position this year.

Up forward is where the Crows have been totally exposed. Giving up a ridiculous 85 points per game to the top three scoring players, which is 13 points more than the next highest team. Brisbane Forwards would compliment your stacks beautifully in this matchup.

VALUE PLAYS

Cam Rayner (DS $7,910, DK $4,700)

Love putting Rayner in my Brisbane stacks on this slate. As we just saw above the Crows have been torn apart by forwards this year and Rayner has the capability to kick around 3 goals in the right matchup if he can kick straight. He also gets a little bonus of playing through the middle for very limited spurts (2 centre bounce attendances last week). So far this year Cam has posted around the 50 point mark each game without kicking more than a single goal in any match, so there is certainly upside.

Curtis Taylor (DS $5,000, DK $3,700)

Curtis almost seems like a gimme at this price. Averaging 48 points on the season, which would be over value in the shortened quarters, how can you not pile into him. He has massive wraps at North Melbourne and also looked good all the way back into the preseason action. You can set and forget here and not have too many concerns.

MID PRICED PLAYS

Christian Petracca (DS $13,850, DK $6,900)

He is just a whisker away from being up into the premium pricing. That said I still love him at this price point and realistically he would still be a play even higher. Firmly entrenched in the Demons midfield this season (top 3 in CBAs every game) he has also been their best player. This has translated into huge scores with 90 and 108 from two games (averaging 99). I love this matchup for Melbourne given the Cats have to play at the MCG.

Robbie Tarrent (DS $10,040, DK $4,700)

Here is my typical key defender GPP special. As I have mentioned all year for the past two seasons the Hawks have structured up in a manner that allows key defenders to pick a lot of cheap possessions as they chip around the back line. So far this year we have seen:

R1 Harris Andrews 62

R2 Harry Taylor 64

R3 Dylan Grimes 72

At near minimum pricing these scores are straight fire, especially in the short quarters. For Tarrent you pay a bit more but also brings that bigger upside. Last season against the Hawks in Round 3 we saw this when he posted a 97 point game. If you can link him up with the right North defender this is the perfect way to crack a GPP as he will be next to 0% owned.

PREMIUM PLAYS

Lachie Neale (DS $16,610, DK $8,400) / Jaryd Lyons (DS $14,750, DK $8,200)

Loved these two last week and the tip paid off as Neale continued to absolutely crush the season with a ridiculous 126 point performance. The fact that he is averaging over 111 points in shortened quarters is nothing short of insane. Lyons has been his partner in crime on the inside posting a 90 point average. With these two having essentially the top matchup in the league this week look for the majority of the field to be plugging them in together, a strategy that is hard to argue with.

Max Gawn (DS $16,480, DK $8,700)

Again very pricey here, however I love the matchup. Geelong have given up the second most points to rucks this season and no one else overly stands out from a matchup point of view. We have already seen Gawn top 120 points in the shortened quarters this year so we know he can pay off his salary. In his last 4 meetings with Geelong he has averaged 108 points per game.
