With just the one day off in the AFL schedule, we go again for Round 15 starting with a double-header on Tuesday. While the match between the Crows and the Hawks has no bearing on the season (well the Crows are still a chance to avoid the spoon), all eyes are on the Eagles to keep their top 4 chances alive. The Bombers need to win if they want to make the final 8. As always, the fantasy sites continue to provide fantastic contests including:

WHERE TO ATTACK

It has been a theme all season long for daily fantasy players. Target just about anyone against the Crows. Adelaide have given up the most fantasy points against opposition Midfields and Forwards while being 2nd to Hawthorn in Backs. Only Reilly O’Brien’s efforts in the Ruck as limited opposition scoring throughout this season.

As for the Hawks, they concede the most amount of possessions in the league at an average of 319 disposals per game. However, the Crows and Hawks accumulate at very low levels with the Hawks 14th and the Crows 18th for stat accumulation.

Well how about this second match? Going up against the Eagles in the ruck is a bit of a wasteland with the Eagles only conceding 57 fantasy points per game in the last 5. With the rotation of ruckman from the Bombers in the past few rounds, this does not give coaches any confidence on whoever the Bombers put up with the Eagles the stingiest in the league for opposition hit outs.

VALUE PLAYS

Bailey J Williams ($6,250 DS / $3,500 DK)

There was plenty of hype and build up for Williams debut match for the Eagles. The numbers didn’t look too flash with 38 Fantasy points on the back of 8 possessions and 8 hit outs from 79% TOG. With Oscar Allen in line for more forward line work with Josh Kennedy out due to concussion, you could role the dice on Williams 2nd up in the ruck position in a soft matchup against the Bombers.

Xavier O’Neill ($7,690 DS / $3,800 DK)

Kelly, Sheed, Shuey, Gaff and O’Neill. You know four of these Eagles players as the engine of the Eagles midfield but you can add Xavier O’Neill to this group. All five attended Centre Bounce Appearances (CBA) in round 14, with O’Neill attending 3 CBA’s (yes, it is a small number) against the Tigers which in itself is an interesting stat. O’Neill scored 64 fantasy points in Round 14 which smashed value on the fantasy sites and only receives a $2K price rise on Draftstars against the Bombers. I can’t see the returning Redden hurting O’Neill’s potential to obtain value in this Eagles midfield.

MID PRICED PLAYS

James Cousins ($9,870 DS / $5,300 DK)

If you were sharp enough last round, the Hawks needed to replace Jaeger O’Meara’s CBA’s and that play was James Cousins. Cousins was on fire against the Bombers in the first half accumulating 51 fantasy points until the Hawks stopped and the Bombers came back from the car park to roll the Hawks. But with the Hawks putting O’Meara in cotton wool and the midfield up against the softest matchup in the league, look for Cousins to build on his impressive game last week. Be mindful however, Cousins will be a fairly chalky play at his price point.

Jack Darling ($10,000 DS / $5,100 DK)

Gee the Eagles have gone tall in this matchup against the Bombers. Sure, Josh Kennedy being out dampens the Eagles forward line power, but you now have Oscar Allen, Bailey Williams, Nic Naitanui (resting up forward) and Jack Darling up front. Going to be a long night for Hurley and co. Darling has only played the Bombers three times since 2016 but has returned 72, 92 and 49 fantasy points in those matches. I like Darling in this spot as the key forward in this match and is my sneaky low % ownership play.

PREMIUM PLAYS

James Worpel ($14,870 DS / $7,500 DK)

A 99.3 3-game average, a slight bump in salary from last match, best fantasy scoring matchup in the league and Jaeger O’Meara still missing. Sign me up! Applying the KISS method (google it if you do not know what KISS stands for), Worpel will appear in many, many lineups with fellow Hawk Tom Mitchell. Barring disaster this is the chalk you need to eat.

Rory Laird ($14,370 DS / $7,300 DK)

Laird is a recommended play but to proceed with caution. Laird has been a fantasy beast in the month of August with ceiling scores of 105 and 139 in the midfield. But in that time, Brad Crouch has been missing due to injury and now returns to play the Hawks. Rory Sloane has taken up the majority of the CBA’s in his return from injury as well and I can see Laird not going into the middle whatsoever. However, if Laird returns across half back then you should not have any worries with the Hawks giving up the most fantasy points in the position.
