Port Adelaide vs Richmond at the ADELAIDE OVAL (PTA -2.5, Total 115.5)

WEATHER WATCH

Looks like we can expect some showers throughout the day, but things should be clear by game time. If there is still some wet weather kicking around by night and it impacts the game look for some of the wet weather specialists such as Ollie Wines to dominate the game from a fantasy perspective. But as things stand currently it looks like it should be perfect conditions for a big final.

WHERE TO ATTACK

The same trend from last week will apply here, defenders against the Tigers. Richmond on the season have given up the 7th most points to backs, however when we isolate the top 3 scorers from the position, they give up the second most at 73 points per game. Look to load up on some of the premium backs for the Power such as Dan Houston.

Ruck is the other position that screams target me against the Tigers. They have given up the most points in the league this year to opposition number one rucks at 77 points per game. This number balloons to a whopping 84 per game over the last 5 rounds. The only challenge is having to stomach playing Lycett who has the upside of a small mouse this season.

VALUE PLAYS

Tom Jonas (DS $7,880, DK $3,800) / Ryan Burton (DS $9,520, DK $4,900)

As with most finals it is incredibly hard to find value on this slate. I will be looking for Port Adelaide backs to take advantage of the fact that Richmond give up one of the highest marks in the league to the position. But even then, the options are few and far between. Jonas has upside at his price, and we saw this in the first final as he went for over 60 points. The problem will be he likely draws an opponent, which could hinder his scoring as the loose man (only managed 39 the first time they played).

The other alternative who I love in this matchup is Burton. First up back from injury in a big final against Geelong he filled up early and posted a solid 66 points. He has a much better matchup in this game and anything around that mark should be a solid return at his price point.

MID PRICED PLAYS

Dan Houston (DS $12,810, DK $6,600)

Houston is the premium back I will be unleashing on this slate. He offers position flexibility on Draftstars and as we saw in the final game of the season brings 100-point upside in one of the best matchups in the league. Priced right at the medium tier I will be linking him up with other Port Adelaide defenders.

Scott Lycett (DS $10,900, DK $6,000)

This is a brutal play. Not sure if Lycett has much upside over 68 at this point. But a 70 point game would be all you need on this slate and it is the best matchup in the league as noted at the top. You can easily go Nankervis in this matchup, but while not being able to score himself, Lycett has restricted opponents to the fifth lowest average in the league this season. I will back the data in on this slate.

Shane Edwards (DS $10,720, DK $5,700)

Loaded up on Edwards last week and it paid off handsomely. He returned to significant midfield minutes starting in 76% of the centre bounces and ending up with 79 fantasy points. His price has barely moved, and I believe the Tigers will go down swinging in the elimination final with their old heads through middle again (Edwards and Martin). He brings massive upside at his price when given that role and given the lack of value finding the right mid-tier players in this slate is going to be key to taking down GPPs.

Daniel Rioli (DS $10,610, DK $4,700)

Rioli has been pushing up the ground a lot in recent weeks and to close the season. This has led to a much more consistent fantasy output with each of his last 4 games topping the 60 point mark. Last time Port Adelaide met, Rioli was the Tigers top scorer in a loss at 70+. There are plenty of alternatives, specifically Tom Lynch who showed the injury hasn't slowed him down one bit last week (and to me has an elite matchup against Port key backs in this game), but I love the safety of Rioli as my initial play at the position.

PREMIUM PLAYS

Ollie Wines (DS $14,890, DK $7,300)

Wines should be able to take advantage of the Tigers at the stoppages who tend to not place a high precedence on that part of the game. He is an absolute contested beast and suited to final football. The first time these two sides met this year he put in a ridiculous 124-point performance with 10 clearances and 11 tackles. If there is any sign of wet conditions from the rain during the day it only enhances Wines as an option.
