Where to Attack

There are very juicy teams to target on this slate with three of the top four teams for conceded fantasy points in 2018 playing. Everyone's favourite target the Gold Coast Suns gave up the most points in the league last year and they are matched up against Fremantle who gave up the second most.

The Western Bulldogs gave up the fourth most points last season and they are matched up against Hawthorn at the MCG.

Points Against By Team

Loading up on Fremantle midfielders on this slate will be the obvious play with the Suns giving up the most points in the league to the position last year (and pretty much every other position). Meanwhile Hawthorn look to be a team to avoid through the middle.

Points Against - Centres

The place to attack the Bulldogs is up forward, where they gave up the most points in league last year to the three top scoring opposition forwards at 91 points per player.

Points Against - Top 3 Forwards

The Bulldogs are also the clear team to go after in the ruck giving up the most points in the league to opposition number rucks in 2018. That bring ‘Big Boy’ Ben McEvoy right into play on this slate, fresh off a tonne in round 1.

Points Against - Number 1 Ruck

Game Stack

There is no major blowout forecast on this slate with the biggest line being Fremantle, expected to beat the Gold Coast by just under 4 goals. The best option looks to be Fremantle and Hawthorn mini stacks, focusing on the Dockers through the middle and the Hawks up forward.

Hawthorn 2018 Correlations

Up forward for the Hawks I will be looking to roster Jack Gunston and Luke Breust together up forward. They have always been positively correlated with a 0.3 over 2018 and to begin this season.

VALUE PLAYS

Tom Scully (DS $5,000, MB $7,400) … too cheap, 100% owned. Slate ruining price. Moving on.

Pearce Hanley (DS $8,170, MB $5,900) was a lineup buster last week so I am licking my chops to BACK THAT TRUCK UP again this week at lower ownership. Everything I said last week holds true, he brings at least a 90 point ceiling at this price. This week he should be better for the run in round 1 and will be back in the confines of the home ground at Metricon where he has averaged +12.3 points over the his last 9 games there.

MID-PRICED PLAYS

Jack Gunston (DS $13,060, MB $7,500) is one of my top plays on this slate. He has an elite matchup against the Bulldogs who gave up the most points to top three opposition forwards in 2018 as noted above. Gunston plays the MCG well with a +6.7 point average on the ground over his last 34 games on the ground.

Brayden Fiorini (DS $13,420, MB $7,900) is the poster child for empty calories. His fate is to always be far more valuable to your fantasy team than any real life football, and for that we love him. The Dockers gave up the third most points to midfielders last season and Fiorini is still priced too cheap for an upside of 130+ points.

Aaron Hall (DS $10,280, MB $8,000) has always packed a huge punch when it comes to the ceiling of his fantasy scores and at this price he is poised to win someone a GPP as soon as he settles into his role at North Melbourne. The fast paced Marvel stadium should suit his outside game style.

PREMIUM PLAYS

Nathan Fyfe (DS $14,560, MB $8,600) has the nuts matchup for his position on this slate. The only query with Fyfe will always be getting through the game unscathed and putting forth a four quarter effort if the game gets out of hand. Fyfe has absolutely decimated Gold Coast in the past averaging 132.3 fantasy points over their last three meetings.
