NRL Fantasy

Before last week’s victory to the Roosters, this matchup looked to be extremely lopsided, however with a 36-18 road victory over the Titans, the Roosters have given themselves a chance at still squeezing into the finals. This should be a competitive matchup, with the mighty Broncos looking to win their 4th straight and move back into 1st on the table.

Team News

The Broncos lose both Marty Taupau and Jesse Arthars to suspension, with Taupau replaced by Brendan Piakura, and Arthars replaced by Deine Mariner. They do welcome back Tom Flegler, with the fiery prop replacing Keenan Palasia, who drops to the bench at the expense of Xavier Willison. No other changes expected.

The Roosters welcome back Victor Radley, who replaces Nathan Brown at lock. Brown reverts to the bench, pushing Siua Wong to the reserves. No other changes expected, after the best Roosters display we’ve seen for months in their win last week.

Overview

Money has come in on the Roosters, and this is clearly based off one game. I don’t agree, and believe the Broncos should be far too strong in this one. Whilst the Roosters do have a lot to play for, the Broncos can’t afford to drop any games in their quest for the Minor Premiership.

Love It – Reece Walsh - $15,720

Walsh has been a revelation at fullback for the Broncos this season. Whilst the boom fullback does have a low floor, I trust the Broncos to be too good for the Roosters, and in turn allow Walsh plenty of opportunities for attacking stats. With 9 scores above 50, and a high score of 80.3 this season, 50+ is a score that is a high likelihood for a team that should win comfortably.

Love It – Brandon Smith - $12,790

Smith looked like a different player last week, and whether he can produce that form again this week remains to be seen. However, if he can replicate his output from last week, he is value in this position. If you can get the money to bring in Adam Reynolds, he is the only Half/Hooker option I’d prefer, but at a near $8,000 premium over Smith, I prefer the Roosters hooker at the price.

Love It – Payne Haas - $22,820

Haas’ output has waned over the Origin period, however with the season’s finish line in sight, I expect the big Broncos’ prop to start winding up again. Whilst there are some off field distractions involving Haas right now, I believe he will be in for some big performances to justify what he is asking for in his next contract. I will be looking for another 65+ score from Haas in this spot, and if he can manage some attacking stats, you’re looking at 75+.

Hate It – Luke Keary - $14,100

Keary is the second most expensive half/hooker option in this slate, and I’m sorry to say that he just doesn’t have the upside to consider at this price. Whilst he does have 7 scores over 50 this season, I believe the Broncos’ defence will hold this Roosters attack to 3 tries or under. If that’s the case, it severely limits the chances of Keary to throw in some attacking statistics, which he sorely needs to score well.

Hate It – Victory Radley - $16,980

Radley has been consistent this season in games he has managed to play 80 minutes in, however he lacks the upside to outlay close to $17,000. I much prefer the likes of Carrigan and the Butcher brothers at around the same price point to get a score that will help you win money in this slate. The other concern is Nathan Brown being on the bench, who could eek into the minutes of Radley.

Who Knows – James Tedesco - $19,660

Tedesco has been stepping it up over the past 6 weeks, with 5 scores of 50+, and just the one fail (16.7). However, a look at the opposition for the Roosters in that time shows the only good team they have faced was the Panthers. A brief look at that game shows Tedesco struggled to get anything going, only scoring 50 due to a consolation try towards the end of the match. Appears to be in good form, however against a solid defensive outfit in the Broncos, I’m not so sure he will get it done.
