NRL 2022 Daily Fantasy Tips: Round 5 Saturday
We kick off Saturday’s Round 5 action in Wagga Wagga, when the Canberra Raiders play host to the Melbourne Storm. The Raiders have been like a yo-yo this season, going win, loss, win, loss. Coach Ricky Stuart faces a tough ask against the Melbourne Storm, who obliterated the Bulldogs last week. With an almost full-strength roster and their all-star spine humming, the Storm will be a tough egg to crack for the wildly inconsistent Raiders.
Next up, the Dragons head to Olympic Park, where they take on the 1-3 Rabbitohs. Both sides have had a rough start to the season, but the Rabbitohs have been the more impressive over the past two weeks. With the Dragons struggling to find points, expect the Rabbitohs to have the foot to the floor, as they attempt to keep tabs on the top 8.
Finally, chapter 2 of the 2022 Titans vs Eels feud, as the Eels head north to take on the Gold Coast Titans at Cbus Super Stadium. The Eels are winners of 2 straight and are 3-1, with one of those victories coming over the Titans in round 1. Expect plenty of points in this one, with 60 points scored in the first contest.
If Daily Fantasy is your game, Draftstars has you covered, with contests for all 3 games separately, and a mammoth contest for the entire slate of Super Saturday. There are several pools to choose from, from the recreational to the serious, paying as little as 50c to enter, and prize pools up to $10,000!
Not a whole lot to talk about with both teams in the early game, with Ricky Stuart naming the same side that were embarrassed by the Sea Eagles last week. One change that is likely will be Matt Frawley starting at hooker and Tom Starling reverting to the bench. Given how poorly they played last week, a late switch from Stuart is not off the table. For the Storm, coach Bellamy has named the same 17 as last week, after the Storm dominated the Bulldogs 44-0. There are no injury concerns, and I would expect they run out as per program.
In game 2, the Rabbitohs have dropped Jaxson Paulo to reserves, promoting Josh Mansour to start on the wing. Mark Nicholls (ankle) is set for a stint on the sidelines, with Tom Burgess named to start in his place. Blake Taafe joins the bench in place of Burgess, whilst young prop Davvy Moale joins the bench, at the expense of Siliva Havili. For the Dragons, coach Anthony Griffin has somewhat surprisingly named the same 17 from last week, despite the condemnation he received from all quarters for his selections last week.
In the final game of Super Saturday, the Titans have received good news, with Phillip Sami, Isaac Liu and Beau Fermor all returning from Covid protocol, with Brian Kelly and Sam Lisone out, and Jaimin Joliffe reverting to the bench. For the Eels, Shaun Lane returns, with Ryan Matterson benched and Wiremu Greig dropped. Mitch Rein has also been named on the bench, at the expense of Bryce Cartwright. No other changes are expected after a brilliant display last week for the Eels.
Odds
Raiders $4.00 vs Storm $1.25
Rabbitohs $1.31 vs Dragons $2.50
Titans $3.00 vs Eels $1.39

Love It - Cody Walker $17,700
As mentioned above, I like the South Sydney left hand side to cause havoc in this game. Cody has scored 6 tries in the last 3 meetings between these teams, and at least one try in the last 5 games between them. He loves playing the Dragons, and after a slow start by his standards to this season, I am bullish on a big Cody Walker performance.
Love It - Waqa Blake - $11,560
Blake has relished his move to the wing, allowing him more space and more chances to get his hands on the ball. He scored 59 points last week and was busy. Given he is on the left wing in place of Russell, there is a very good probability that Blake will have his chances at scoring tries. Could be rocks or diamonds, but at the price he is worth a shot as he could go huge.
Love It - Cam Munster $21,430
Expensive, but after a noticeably quiet performance last week, will be looking to get far more involved this week. I mentioned above I like the left side of the Storm to eat in this one, and Munster is the king on the left. Expect him to be in everything when the Storm go left, and with Bellamy being the master at exploiting opponent’s weaknesses, the Storm surely send plenty of traffic that way.
Hate It - David Fifita $20,130
The world’s most expensive decoy, Fifita just has not been given the opportunity to show what he’s capable of this year. At the price, you expect more than what he has been producing. He could come out and kill it, but the Titans offence just doesn’t seem keen on using him. Despite the Titans scoring 28 against the Eels in round 1, Fifita only managed 48 points, which just isn’t enough.
Hate It - Reed Mahoney $18,620
Mahoney continues to look good and do his job rugby league wise, but he hasn’t had the attacking stats to justify his price this season. Whilst his price has steadily dropped, his highest score of 47 does not cut it at this price. Far better options in the halves/hooker slot for you to use your money on.
Who Knows - Latrell Mitchell $17,450
Whilst I mentioned him above as someone to consider, it’ difficult to commit to Latrell. He has the upside to easily score you massive points, but he still looks a touch short of match fitness and hasn’t quite been as involved as you would like.
