NRL 2021 Daily Fantasy Tips: Round 17 Sharks v Warriors
The bye round for the NRL wraps on Sunday afternoon with the Sharks who have been caught in COVID dramas of their own hosting the Warriors at Netstrata Jubilee. The Sharks are sitting 8th on the table however it is quite a logjam with the Warriors who are 5-10 on the season but just one win off the top 8. It is the only game on the slate so let’s look at who we can target on Draftstars
Draftstars have posted a $10,000 slate with mini and micro contests also available.
Odds
Sharks $1.60 v Warriors $2.35
Line - 4.5
Total - 49.5
Weather
Sydney - The big wet weekend continues with persistent showers throughout the day. A day for handling errors coming up.
Team News
For the Sharks, Will Chambers has been ruled out due to COVID protocol (family reasons) with Connor Tracey shifting back to the centres and Braydon Trindall playing in the halves. Tracey did replace Matt Moylan who is out once again with injury.
The Warriors are boosted by the recruitment of Matthew Lodge and the return of Reece Walsh from his hamstring injury. This once again pushes Roger Tuivasa-Sheck back out to the wing. However Tohu Harris and Chad Townsend are out with Kodi Nikorima and Jazz Tevaga getting the start. Rocco Berry has replaced Adam Pompey in the centres and Ed Kosi drops out to accommodate Tuivasa-Sheck's move to the wing.
Try location through 17 rounds
- Sharks have scored 23 out of 49 tries (47%) on their left edge (Mulitalo, Tracey, Johnson)
- Warriors have scored 21 out of 53 tries (40%) on their left edge (RTS, Berry, Nikorima)
Fantasy Overview
Good little slate this one! With Tohu Harris out of the picture and Tuivasa-Sheck back on the wing, so it is not a stars and scrubs approach on Sunday. The rain in Sydney however will make me invest in forwards and halves as these players will keep the ball towards the middle of the park.
Value Selections
Braydon Trindall ($7,000 HALF)
Trindall was a late call-up for the Sharks last week against the Broncos and battled on for a 27FP score. With another call-up due to Moylan being out and Tracey back in the centres then Trindall is playable at the minimum. If he can eliminate the amount of missed tackles and contribute to the kicking game then we can achieve at least 35 fantasy points.
Teig Wilton ($9,130 2RF)
This is the value selection of the slate with Wilton coming off a 62 fantasy point effort in the loss to the Broncos. Played the full 80 minutes and is in line for another big effort at home. The price hasn’t budged and this allows for more salary in your hooker or other forward selections.
Mid Priced selections
Jazz Tevaga ($10,750 2RF/HOK)
Without Harris, Tevaga is in line for a mountain of work with the start at Lock. Tevaga is a tackling machine and really can rack up a high fantasy score in the limited time he is on the park. With a lack of premium options in the 2RF position, then he can be paired with Wilton.
Aaron Woods ($10,600 FRF)
I mentioned that I would be investing in middle pack forwards for this matchup and Woods is the most solid option at his price tag. Just gives solid fantasy performances through a consistent amount of minutes and work rate. The price is affordable as other pack forwards are in the $14k range.
Premium Selection
Blayke Brailey ($13,170 HOK)
Tough dummy-half selection today with both Brailey and Egan ($13,040) playing consistent 80 minutes and producing premium fantasy point production. Entrants will be drawn to Egan’s 80 fantasy effort last week after he scored a try against the Dragons. Thus we can grab Brailey at lower ownership, especially if the competition plug in Tevaga in at the Hooker spot.
