ICC World Cup – Australia v New Zealand
This Saturday will see a great double-header taking place in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup, when Afghanistan takes on Pakistan followed by a huge clash between top 3 sides Australia and New Zealand.
Pakistan’s hopes of reaching the finals rely on them scoring a win and preferably a big one when they take on the winless Afghanistan side. Pakistan copped a hiding from the West Indies in their opening game, but bounced back magnificently to defeat England. They’ve won their last 2 games against South Africa and the previously undefeated New Zealand.
Afghanistan have been largely competitive in their games, notably against India where they lost by just 11 runs. They followed that up with a 62 run loss to Bangladesh. Their bowling has been very competitive but their batting line-up has let them down.
Australia currently sits at the top of the World Cup table, with 6 wins and a solitary loss to India. Since that loss they’ve beaten Pakistan by 41 runs, Sri Lanka by 87 runs, Bangladesh by 48 runs and most recently, England by 64 runs.
New Zealand won their opening 3 clashes comfortably against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, before a much anticipated clash with fellow undefeated side, at the time, India was washed out. They scored wins over South Africa and West Indies before going down to Pakistan 3 days ago by 6 wickets – their first loss of the tournament.
MoneyBall has a major contest worth $20,000 for the clash between Australia and New Zealand which costs just $15 to enter. DraftStars have a $20,000 major competition for the same game which also costs $15 to join. Plenty of cash up for grabs for this game, so don’t miss out!
The team here at Daily Fantasy Rankings has an exclusive cheat sheet available for both of these games, to help maximise your chances of winning some serious coin. The Afghanistan v Pakistan cheat sheet is here, while the Australia v New Zealand cheat sheet is here.
Match-Winner
The DFR match-winner is a guaranteed stud who might cost you an arm and a leg, but is going to score well on any given night.
Aaron Finch – AUS ($19,980 DraftStars) ($8,100 MoneyBall)
Finch doesn’t come cheap, but he does come with a swag of great Fantasy scores. At DraftStars his lowest score from his last 4 games was a very high 94.3. He scored a near run-a-ball 82 against Pakistan, a glorious 153 off 132 balls against Sri Lanka, 53 off 51 balls against Bangladesh and most recently 100 off 116 against England.
It’s not just racking up runs he does either. He took a wicket against Pakistan, a catch against both Sri Lanka and England and picked up a run out against Bangldesh.
Night-Watchman
The night-watchmen will be a great point of difference in your team and plugging him somewhere in the middle order could be the difference between winning or losing.
Alex Carey – AUS ($11,380 DraftStars) ($5,500 MoneyBall)
The Australian keeper and batsmen has been having a great tournament so far. He’s averaging 57.67 from 6 innings, half of which he was not dismissed, scored an unbeaten 55 against India and has been scoring runs at rapid speed far more often than not. His Strike Rate in the World Cup is currently at 140.74.
His glovework has also seen him take 14 catches and make a stumping. He’s quite cheap at MoneyBall and very affordable over at DraftStars too, and given he’s a great chance to score points in both innings, he’s a great, low risk option.
Fine-leg to Fine-leg
Anyone who’s played a game of grade cricket before knows that only the duds go from fine leg to fine leg. Avoid these guys like the plague.
Tom Latham – NZL ($9,500 DraftStars) ($5,200 MoneyBall)
Latham was batting at 5 in the New Zealand batting order for their last clash (higher than his opposing keeper Alex Carey in his last match, where he was at number 7), suggesting he can handle the bat reasonably well. However he’s scored just 27 runs at an average of 6.75 and with a very poor strike rate of 48.21. He has taken 12 catches, which is good, but his keeping is practically responsible for what fantasy scores he has produced so far.
