Monaco Formula 1 F1

The most iconic race on the Formula 1 calendar will take place this weekend at the tight and tricky Monaco circuit.

There will be a sombre feeling over the event after the passing of F1 legend Niki Lauda this week, however attention will quickly turn to the race and who will come out as the victor. The Monaco circuit one is very technical and quite slow compared to most tracks, which makes this the closest race of the season.

CONSTRUCTORS

Mercedes have finished first and second in all races so far this year, which in turn means they cost a very high $32.5M. Due to the nature of the track though, all constructors have a stronger chance here. Red Bull has long been a favourite here and even won here last year. They cost $24.5M and have been closer to Ferrari ($29.1M) and Mercedes all season.

Renault is worth $12.5M which is reasonable given the quality of their drivers, but expensive given the reliability and performance of their cars this season. They do possess the winner of this race from last year though.

Alfa Romeo is the best pick if you are looking for a cheap constructor capable of delivering a solid score while also allowing you to buy some top tier drivers. They cost $9.5M and average 11 points, which is equal third with Racing Point ($9.6M) and just 7 behind Red Bull.

DRIVERS

Last years winner, Daniel Ricciardo is priced at $11.6M but has averaged just 5 points per race this season. However his last race saw him score 18 (incl. Qualifying). He loves this track, getting pole in 2016 and was leading the race before a disastrous pit stop saw him finish second. He won from pole in 2018 despite driving with an underperforming engine.

2019 Championship leader Lewis Hamilton as always, is the most expensive driver at $31.0M. He’s just so reliable and consistently high scoring that he’s very hard to ignore. His team mate Valtteri Bottas though has the identical average points as Lewis, both on 19 per race, but he costs much less at $21.9M.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen will be highly fancied to win here, driving the car most likely to succeed at this track. He costs $24.9M and has been averaged a lofty 14 per race. His team mate Pierra Gasly is worth $16.0M and would also be a handy pick up.

Kimi Raikkonen has been brilliant in the Alfa Romeo this year and at $10.5M he is great value. His team mate Antonio Giovinazzi is also worth a look at $7.1M, as is McLaren’s Lando Norris at $6.4M, if you are looking to stockpile cash for an expensive driver.
