Virat Kohli India Cricket ODI

After Australia surprised India by winning the opening ODI game, the visitors struck back with a 6 wicket victory on Tuesday to level the series, taking us to the third and deciding match of the series, which will be held at Melbourne’s iconic MCG on Friday, January 18.

The second match saw Australia post a reasonable total of 298, Shaun Marsh top scoring with an impressive 131. He received little support though aside from a typically unorthodox 48 from Glenn Maxwell. India responded with captain Virat Kohli hitting a man-of-the-match 104 and the experienced keeper-batsman MS Dohni scoring an unbeaten 55 to win the game for India.

MoneyBall will again have $2,000 on the line in their major contest while DraftStars will again have the biggest prize of $7,000. Both contests have a $15 entry fee.

Squads

Australia: Aaron Finch (capt), Jason Behrendorff, Alex Carey (wk), Peter Handscomb, Usman Khawaja, Nathan Lyon, Mitch Marsh, Shaun Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Jhye Richardson, Peter Siddle, Billy Stanlake, Marcus Stoinis, Adam Zampa, Ashton Turner.

India: Virat Kohli (capt), Rohit Sharma, Vijay Shankar, Shikhar Dhawan, Ambati Rayudu, Dinesh Karthik, Kedar Jadhav, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (wk), Shubman Gill, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Siraj, Khaleel Ahmed, Mohammed Shami.

Batsmen

Rohit Sharma Backed up his glorious century in Game 1 with a solid 43 in game 2, which in turn has seen him have the best fantasy average of all batsmen at 140.6. The MCG wicket will suit the Indian’s yet again and given he is an opening batsmen, he is certain to bat. He’s not cheap though, costing $22,400.

Shaun Marsh is arguably the form batsmen of the series, scoring 54 in the first one dayer and then 131 in the second. His average is 139.9, just 0.7 behind Sharma, however his price of $15,600 is very tempting indeed.

MS Dohni had a great last innings half-ton and has averaged 85.9 so far this series. With a price of $11,400, this keeper-batsman is a very solid selection in any fantasy side. Especially when compared to his Australian counterpart Alex Carey who has opened the batting for Australia and scored 24 and 18 and has yet to make a dismissal across both games. Carey has an average of 21 and costs $11,700.

Ravindra Jadeja is an all-rounder who typically bats at 7 and bowls his full compliment of overs. He hasn’t had much opportunity so far with the bat, but has been reliable enough with the ball. At $11,700 he’s well worth a look.

Bowlers

Marcus Stoinis is an accomplished batsmen and versatile pace bowler, making him a tricky prospect all round. He’s averaged 86.9 across the two games and costs a lofty $17,200 but has been proving he deserves the pricetag.

Kuldeep Yadav took 2 wickets in the last match and will have his tail up for this. He costs a very good $11,100, making him tough to ignore.

Peter Siddle has yet to stamp his authority in these games, but an experienced ODI and Test bowler cannot be ignored for too long. On home soil, he just may grab a few wickets, and at just $9,800, he’s not too huge a risk.
