Liverpool

The 2019-20 EPL season continues this weekend with Matchday 6. All 20 teams will be in action across three days, starting with a Saturday morning clash between Southampton and Bournemouth. There’s also a juicy fixture on in the early Saturday night timeslot that sees Leicester host Tottenham, which will be followed by a three-game slate at midnight (AEST). The best of the round will be saved until last however, with Chelsea hosting Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on early Monday morning.

The four-game feature slate on Saturday night should be an exciting one and has been made even better with all the big cash prizes up for grabs at the major DFS sites.

Saturday night / Sunday morning fixtures:

12am – Burnley ($1.95) vs Norwich ($3.50)

Everton ($1.62) vs Sheffield United ($5.50)

Manchester City ($1.12) vs Watford ($17)

2:30am - Newcastle United ($2.50) vs Brighton & Hove Albion ($3)

Draftstars have a fantastic $4,000 tournament on offer for the Saturday/Sunday slate for just $15 entry, while DraftKings have a $30,000 contest for a $16 (USD) buy-in.

Where to Attack

Obviously, the standout play here is to field as many Manchester City players as you can. You’re limited to four players per team at both sites, so picking the City guns will be key to this slate. They did let us down last weekend, but there’s no way they won’t bounce back in a big way this weekend.

Another popular tactic will be employing a bunch of Everton players as they have a seemingly soft fixture at home to Sheffield United. In saying that, Everton haven’t been in great touch to start the season, so It’s definitely not a lock and load. However, you don’t want to be the one that misses out on a few big scores if they this is the weekend they hit their straps.

Finally, make sure you don’t discount the other two fixtures in this slate. Historically, winning teams will have included high-scoring players from the even money fixtures, so it’s certainly worth doing your research on the low-profile clubs. For mine, the best left-field tactic will be selecting Newcastle United players. They haven’t been great so far, but they are at home and get a look at one of the relegation favourites in Brighton. You’ll be able to get Magpies players for cheap, which will allow you to spend big on City and Everton stars.

Here’s some great picks for the Saturday night slate!

Goalkeepers

Manchester City’s Ederson ($16,510 DS / $5,900 DK) is the safe play here and can just about guarantee you the win bonus as well as the clean sheet bonus. However, keepers can rack up a lot of points from saves and I don’t see him having much to do against Watford. For this reason, I’ll be playing a fair bit of Everton’s Jordan Pickford ($13,520 DS / $5,600 DK) between the sticks. He’s a great shot-stopper and will have a bit more to do than the aforementioned Ederson and is still likely to collect the bonuses. Another solid play here is Newcastle’s Martin Dubravka ($11,500 DS / $4,900 DK) who could give you a solid score for a low price. Personally, I wouldn’t play a keeper nor defender from the Norwich vs Burnley clash as it’s likely to be high scoring if current trends stay true.

Defenders

Selecting defenders usually requires a similar thought process to the one you use for goalkeepers. However, there’s a bit more leniency towards conceding goals and the outcome of the match. This week I’ll be trying to pick City players that will likely pick up a clean sheet and get amongst the attacks. Oleksandr Zinchenko ($14,210 DS / $5,400 DK) is the highest scoring City defender so far, but he’s far too expensive for our liking, so I’ll be taking his opposite full back in Kyle Walker ($11,080 DS / $4,700 DK). Due to injuries, Nicolas Otamendi ($11,820 DS / $3,800 DK) is the only fit City centre back, so he’s a solid play. From Everton, Lucas Digne ($11,290 DS / $7,400 DK) is the standout play and will make his way into a lot of teams. If you can’t pay up for Digne, then Yerry Mina ($8,640 DS / $3,900 DK) appeals as a great cheap alternative. Lastly, from Newcastle I’m keen on giving Fabian Schar ($9,650 DS / $4,500 DK) a guernsey. He’s a great player and an even better fantasy scorer.

Midfielders / Strikers

Midfielders and strikers are grouped into one at Draftstars, so there’s no need to separate them here. I’ll look to be a bit more adventurous in this position to get as many potential goal scorers in as possible. First up, let’s start with the guns. Sergio Aguero ($18,520 DS / $11,900 DK) is always a solid play but will cost you an arm and a leg, as will fellow City star Raheem Sterling ($17,880 DS / $11,100 DK). If you can get either of these guys in, fair play, but I’ll be going to cheaper alternative in Kevin De Bruyne ($15,950 DS / $11,400 DK) who’s just a likely to go big. Alex Iwobi ($10,010 DS / $7,500 DK) is my favourite play from Everton’s attack and will feature in my teams, while Richarlison ($14,350 DS / $8,900 DK) is always a good play but an expensive one at that. I will look to attack the Burnley vs Norwich fixture with our attacking players, because like I said earlier, you can expect this match to have goals in it. From Burnley the dangerous Ashley Barnes ($13,000 DS / $7,900 DK) is a good pick, as is winger Aaron Lennon ($8,090 DS / $3,900 DK) if he starts. For Norwich, Teemu Puki ($13,540 DS / $7,900 DK) is in irresistible form and should be considered.
