Game 61 of the BBL09 is the last game of the tournament which pits the Sydney Sixers and the Melbourne Stars at the SCG for the “Final”. The match is scheduled to start in Sydney at 7.15pm AEDT.

All season long we have provided our famous FREE Cheat Sheets and Data Tools in our Data Tools section, new for the BBL09 season, Daily Fantasy Rankings presents the Draftstars Lineup Builder! Using our Data Tools and Projections you will be able to quickly build and import BBL teams into Draftstars by using the CSV upload. Access the Builder including tutorials on how the builder works by clicking the banner below.

Draftstars have posted a $15,000 contest for a $15 entry, as well as a $1,500 Mini and even a $200 Single Entry contest for a $10 buy-in. Moneyball offerings include a $5,000 contest for $15 entry and a $500 mini for $2.

Unfortunately a weather miracle is required in Sydney for this match to proceed. Sydney is currently receiving over 100mm of rain on Friday and the forecast on Saturday is around the same amount.

UPDATE - WE MAY GET SOME CRICKET!

The bat Flip is very important here, whovever bats first it you will need players from the 1st innings either batsman and bowlers! The ball will swing and nip around for maybe 1 to 2 overs but obviosuly will get too wet for swing and for spin. Look for power hitters (Stoinis, Maxwell, Maddinson, Phillipe, Smith, Vince and Henriques) in your teams. I would not bother with Silk, Lenton and to some extent the spin of Hincliffe, Lyon and O'Keefe. If there is any delay in this match, this will limit the fantasy scoring of the team batting 2nd. If there is no rain at all for the rest of the match then having stacks of 5-6 players from each side could be a contrarian move.

Even the most optimistic cricket lover would hit the bar early and get the umpire to call it off. If by any chance (under 5% chance to stop raining for a short amount of time) a game of cricket is to be played it will be conducted in abnormal conditions.

Jonathan Merlo has been brought into the 13 man Stars squad with Dilbar Hussain the one to miss out. The Sixers are unchanged.

If a game gets underway on time or only delayed for a short amount of time then you want exposure to players in the first innings. This means top order batsmen and the opposition bowlers. I would look at bowlers that bowl in the powerplay, so for example the Stars have been bowling Glenn Maxwell, Daniel Worrall and Nathan Coulter-Nile while looking to limit spinners from either team. For the Sixers, Josh Hazlewood, Sean Abbott and Ben Dwarshuis are the main bowlers in the Powerplay.

I would not roster any middle to lower order batsman on the team batting second as it is highly likely that the team will bat less overs than the team batting 1st. Whilst it is beneficial for the team batting 2nd to control the run chase in a rain affect match, it is the complete opposite in Fantasy. You want fantasy points on the board.

Remember there must be 5 completed overs from each side to constitute a match or all entry fees are refunded to the contestants.

If it is looking likely a game will get underway, I will update this article with my Love It / Don’t Love It / Who Knows plays on Saturday afternoon.

I would like to thank you all for reading this season’s previews along with using the data tools and Lineup Builder we have introduced this BBL season. Whilst we are disappointed that we could not fight out a Live Final this season, we can only imagine the uncertainty of the situation if this was to occur on Saturday.

The DFR members had a very good summer of cricket with DFS legend ‘Knova’ becoming the number 1 ranked Australian player whilst we have some new players in town. These include ‘Offthemap’, ‘deprazer93’ and ‘tjw123’ who all had multiple wins this season whilst DFR stalwarts in ‘jbarrett16’, ‘stimpy870’ and GOAT ‘jayk123’ performed very well.

The cricket however does not stop on Saturday. The spotlight now goes to the Women’s T20 World Cup held in Australia and Draftstars have indicated they will create contests for the event. Keep an eye out on DFR as we will provide our FREE tools for the World Cup.
