Draftstars have posted a $10,000 contest for a $15 entry, as well as a $1,000 Mini and even a $200 Single Entry contest for a $10 buy-in. A Double Header contest is also available with the "Player Swap" feature enabled. Moneyball are offering a $3,000 contest for a $15 entry as well as a $500 guarantee on their $2 contest.

We are halfway through the tournament and it is unbelievable that the Renegades are actually winless through 8 games. Remarkably in a league that only have 18 players in each squad, the Renegades are currently have 27 signed players with the inclusion of Queensland kid Nathan McSweeney.

The return of Mohammad Nabi from the Bangladesh Premier League is a boost to this rabble of a squad with Richard Gleeson’s time at the Renegades coming to an end. He should be a straight swap and bat within the middle order. Adelaide welcome back Test Vice-Captain in Travis Head who replaces Strikers captain in Alex Carey who he is in India on One-Day duty. Harry Nielsen will take the gloves in Carey’s absence. We have sunny skies in Adelaide and as always the conditions at the oval are conducive of a lot of runs on this deck.

The Renegades it must be said were pretty good at Marvel against the Stars producing a strong opening partnership between Shaun Marsh and Marcus Harris. The bowling attack did put the Stars chase under pressure until Glenn Maxwell just simply muscled his way to victory. The Strikers are on the skids after losing the previous three games on the trot. If it was not for some Rashid Khan heroics late against the Sixers, the Strikers were poor on both disciplines of the game. The Strikers were bowled out for 135 then throwing away a chance late in the game with woeful bowling against the Sixers tail.

The experience of Alex Carey leaving the side is counterbalanced with Travis Head returning for the Strikers. Where as the experience of Aaron Finch and Kane Richardson will be sorely missed for the ‘Gades. The Renegades are 2nd in the competition for giving up fantasy points and having Glenn Maxwell post 176.5 last night does not improve that record. With Gurney, Gleeson and Richardson not in the side, this leaves serious questions on their death bowling pace attack. The books have the Strikers as strong favourites with the class of Rashid Khan the key player in this matchup.

Batsman

Love It - Travis Head ($16,200 Draftstars)

I like Travis first up for the Strikers in the absence of Alex Carey. Outside of Khan and Shaun Marsh the salaries are quite fair for the amount of players in this game. Head will come in at least at 4 and with the poor form of Matthew Short we could see Head come in sooner rather than later. In BBL08, Head did actually bat at 3. Against the weakened Renegades attack, I want exposure to the top 4 of the Strikers.

Don’t Love It - Sam Harper ($13,000 Draftstars)

Gee what has happened to Harper last game? Aaron Finch has left for India and Harper has found himself batting at 6 against the Stars? It was a bizarre decision as Harper scored 73 runs off 46 balls against the Scorchers the game before. Need to monitor team sheets, especially if the opening partnership of Shaun Marsh and Marcus Harris continue.

Who Knows - Beau Webster ($12,500 Draftstars)

Webster has been one of the most improved players in the tournament this season with his excellent fantasy scores from the bat and surprisingly from the ball. What I know is that Webster is going to be very popular, what I do not know is that will Webster be called upon to bowl on this Adelaide deck? Fading the field could be an option here.

Bowlers

Love it - Mohammad Nabi ($15,900 Draftstars)

On a contest where only Rashid Khan is the only star between the two teams, paying a fortune for Khan maybe a bit of a stretch for your teams. Nabi with his “pedestrian” tweakers does provide salary relief at just under 16K yet will contribute with the bat as well. If we can get an economy bonus, a couple of wickets and runs off the bat then Nabi is a great selection.

Don’t Love It - Will Sutherland ($9,800 Draftstars)

Look there is a plethora of options here from either side in the absence of “talent”, but I needed to choose one. Sutherland is the unlucky one but alas when you are wicketless in the tournament then you are not a great fantasy option. I am struggling to see if Sutherland will strike against this Strikers side let alone snag multiple poles. That price however is very alluring.

Who knows - Michael Neser ($14,400 Draftstars)

This will be Neser’s 3rd game of the tournament after showing a bit with the bat 1st up and then taking wickets last match. Neser will be pretty popular play after gaining 50% ownership in his previous two contests. I do like him again in this spot, but I rather have him at half the ownership than the 50% of the field. More riskier play but great upside play is to pivot to Peter Siddle who comes in at a similar salary.
