A few BBL battlers will face off on Saturday in another huge double header.

The Renegades, Hurricanes and Heat all need to win if they are to stay alive in BBL12, while the Scorchers will have to overcome adversity to keep their spot at the top of the table.

Draftstars have put up a heap of contests to suit every budget, including Qualifiers for the new Big Bash Star competition.

Here Josh Nevett will give his DFS tips for each encounter.

Melbourne Renegades vs Hobart Hurricanes

The Renegades arrested their slide with a huge Melbourne derby victory over the Stars, breathing life back into their ailing campaign.

Despite another sub-par batting effort (7-141), Tom Rogers (5-16) led a stirring performance with the ball to secure the win.

The men in red sit in the top five as a result, but there are still some serious issues with Melbourne’s batting. Aaron Finch has turned back the clock in recent games, but aside from him none of the Renegades batters have stood up consistently.

Conversely, the Hurricanes have problems of the bowling variety. Hobart have conceded 228, 177 and 230 in their last three games, losing two of those.

If the Hurricanes are a true title contender, as many expected them to be, they can’t afford to concede any more huge scores, even though batsmen Ben McDermott, Caleb Jewell, Matthew Wade and Tim David are in solid form.

Renegades vs Hurricanes Fantasy Plays

Love It – Caleb Jewell ($12,500)

Jewell looks to be fantastic value for this slate. The Hurricanes opener has scored consecutive 50s at the top, averaging 108 DFS points in those two games, and he looks to be full of confidence. The Renegades have a solid bowling attack, but Jewell is almost a free hit at this price, given his role.

Don’t Love It – Faheem Ashraf ($11,200)

Ashraf has had a nightmare start to his stint at the Hurricanes, copping a belting in both of his two games. The Pakistani quick conceded a whopping 61 runs in just 3.3 overs the other night against the Strikers, showing a complete lack of control. I won’t be surprised if Ashraf is dropped for this game, but if he plays I won’t be selecting him.

Who Knows – Tom Rogers (13,900)

Rogers had an absolute blinder against the Stars, taking 5-fa in a Player of the Match performance. Now he gets the chance to face his old side in an old-school grudge match, can he repeat the dose? Last time Rogers took on the Hurricanes he managed 53 points.

Perth Scorchers vs Brisbane Heat

The Scorchers have copped some terrible luck with injuries this season, and now their misfortunes have worsened with the news that Jhye Richardson will miss a few weeks with a hamstring injury.

He will be joined by Aaron Hardie on the sidelines for this game, leaving holes in the Scorchers line-up that are hard to fill.

Nevertheless, Perth are the reigning champions for a reason and will trust their depth players to do the job.

The Scorchers will require every run, as Brisbane have shown plenty of improvement in recent matches against the Sixers.

Colin Munro has seemingly saved his best until last, while second-string batsmen Josh Brown and Nathan McSweeney both made half-centuries in the Heat’s win over the Sixers.

As such, this game will likely be tighter than the ladder would suggest.

Scorchers vs Heat Fantasy Plays

Love It – Peter Hatzoglou ($10,600)

Value is hard to come by on this slate, but Hatzoglou looks like he may be a good option. The unique spinner has produced three scores of over 40 DFS points so far this season, and if the Heat lose a couple of early wickets he will be well placed to strike against an inexperienced middle order.

Don’t Love It – Adam Lyth ($10,800)

We are still waiting to see the best of Adam Lyth, who has failed to make an impact in BBL12 so far. The English opener has averaged just 15 DFS points, with a high score of 45, and there’s no reason why he will produce a breakout performance here.

Who Knows – Josh Brown ($14,200)

Josh Brown wowed the cricket world with his 62 off 23 against the Sixers the other night, displaying the power and timing that many in grade cricket circles knew he was capable of. As a result of Brown’s big night out, his Draftstars price has spiked considerably. So, do we trust him to score big again at $14k?
