The Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers will playoff for a spot in the BBL12 Final on Saturday night in what promises to be a high-octane encounter.

Both teams have been at their blistering best this campaign, so expect some high quality cricket at Perth Stadium.

Draftstars have put up a heap of contests to suit every budget, so check out Josh Nevett’s DFS tips for this huge clash.

Perth Scorchers vs Sydney Sixers

Scorchers Squad: Ashton Turner (C), Cameron Bancroft, Jason Behrendorff, Cooper Connolly, Stephen Eskinazi (ENG), Aaron Hardie, Peter Hatzoglou, Nick Hobson, Josh Inglis (VC), Lance Morris, David Payne (ENG), Chris Sabburg, Andrew Tye

Sixers Squad: Sean Abbott, Jackson Bird, Dan Christian, Ben Dwarshuis, Moises Henriques, Daniel Hughes, Josh Kann, Hayden Kerr, Izharulhaq Naveed, Steve O’Keefe, Kurtis Patterson, Josh Philippe, Lachlan Shaw, Jordan Silk, Steve Smith

The Scorchers and Sixers have been the best two teams of the tournament by quite a distance, finishing seven points clear of the third-placed Renegades.

Perth have had to overcome some adversity to achieve their status, after losing the likes of Mitch Marsh, Cameron Green, Laurie Evans and Jhye Richardson, while Sydney have flourished with an evergreen experienced squad.

For the Scorchers, Aaron Hardie (434 runs) and Josh Inglis (405) have stood out with the bat in hand. Andrew Tye has led the way with the ball, taking the second most wickets of any bowlers in the competition (24).

Sydney’s Sean Abbott holds the title of top wicket-taker, with 25 to his name. However, in recent matches, it’s been all about Steve Smith.

The returning test star has hit a staggering 328 runs in four innings, instantly transforming the Sixers batting line-up from mediocre to elite.

Smith has been well supported by Phillipe, Henriques and Silk, but he is the main man heading into this big final.

The Scorchers have been dominant at Perth Stadium, winning 11 of their last 12 matches at the venue, so they will enter this contest as the bookies’ favourite.

It would be foolish to doubt the Sixers though, who have performed exceptionally in big games year after year.

Fantasy Plays

Love It – Andrew Tye ($16,100)

Tye has been at his consistent best throughout BBL12, and loves playing against the Sixers. The wily veteran has taken 2 wickets in each of his last six home games against the Sixers, which translates to fantastic DFS scoring. At just over $16k, Tye will be a popular selection given his positive history and strong performances this season.

Love It – Ashton Turner ($11,000)

Turner has had an up-and-down season, often starved of opportunities. Despite Turner’s bucket loads of talent, he has rarely been required, but when needed the big hitter has stood up big time. DFS scores of 127, 95 and 55 demonstrate what he is capable of, and I love that ceiling at this price point.

Don’t Love It – Kurtis Patterson ($12,300)

Patterson has averaged 29 DFS points this campaign, with a best of 76. The classy left-hander is certainly a solid performer, but I’m choosing to pass on this slate because he lacks the ceiling of some of the other players around this price bracket. With just two scores over 60, look elsewhere if you’re after a cheap slate breaker.

Don’t Love It – Josh Phillipe ($16,000)

Sydney’s enigmatic keeper has really struggled away from home this season. Phillipe’s best effort in a BBL away fixture this season was just 44 DFS points, so it’s hard to justify paying $16k for him here. Furthermore, the Scorchers have the best bowling attack in the league outside of Sydney themselves.

Who Knows – Steve Smith ($23,500)

Smith has been nothing short of a revelation since stepping back into the BBL, but can he produce the goods again in a big final against quality bowling. With an average of 155 DFS points from four games, Smith certainly justifies his price, but his performance in this game could make or break your line-ups.
