DFR NRL Thursday night

The Storm take on the Dragons tonight at AAMI Park in a top four matchup. However, both sides have been crippled by Origin with key playmakers sitting out. But the battle between Cameron Smith and Gareth Widdop should be one to watch.

To give you some extra enjoyment for this Thursday, why not enter a couple of teams in the NRL fantasy $10k Qualifier at PlayON? We’ve given you a head start with our Chalk, Chance and Chump article picking out the best and the worst for your team lineups this Thursday.

Chalk - Cameron Smith (Storm)

Cameron Smith is both the most experienced player on the park this Friday and arguably the best chance to score the most points. Without the likes of Slater and Munster, Smith will likely be involved in most of the Storm’s try scoring moves and that improves his chances of extra points. He’s also a very reliable Fantasy points scorer as usual this season. In 4 straight games, he’s averaging 1636 points. He’ll play the 80 minutes and should be your most reliable player to score big!

Chance - Justin Olam (Storm)

Olam returns to the starting lineup in place of Addo-Carr for his 2nd NRL game. The PNG winger played a solid game in his first outing for the Storm as he amassed 1005 points. Which funnily enough was also against the Dragons. In that game, he picked up 84 run metres, laid 11 tackles and also recorded a try-assist. So he should look to build on that debut with another good performance. He’ll cost just $5.5 mil and that looks great in the second outside back position. Picking him should also help you fit Widdop and Cameron Smith into the lineup.

Chump - Suliasi Vunivalu (Storm)

Vunivalu doesn’t seem to be himself this season and his Fantasy production has taken a hit as a result. He’s coming off back to back scores of under 1000 points. In 2018, he’s scored just 7 tries in 14 games. Which compared to back to back seasons of 23 tries, is low. So he seems low on confidence at the moment along with costly errors (5 in the last 2 weeks), he’s risky for his price. Also without Slater and Munster in the lineup, I doubt he finds the try-line this week.
