Chalk – Sam Murray (Collingwood)
A regular “Chalk” pick for us this season has been Collingwood rookie Sam Murray, and he is yet to let us down. In fact, his output has increased in recent weeks with scores of 90 and 85 in the last two which is superb value for a $7.2m price tag at PlayON. This will be a massive game on the big stage of the MCG, so it will be a real test of his nerve, but his dash off half-back has been a joy to watch so happy to have him permanently engraved in my fantasy lineup.
Chance – Zach Merrett (Essendon)
It seems strange to have a fantasy jet like Zach Merrett in the “Chance” category, but it’s been a rough start to the season for the young gun. A knock to the head seemed to have thrown Merrett off his usual with three scores below 80 to start the season. It was certainly not what we were used to, but Merrett returned to form last week with 29 disposals, 8 tackles and 121 fantasy points. At his best, he’s in the elite category of fantasy points scorers so I would suggest giving him a chance in your PlayON side at a price of $15.8m.
Chump – Tom Bellchambers (Essendon)
One of the spud ruckmen of the competition, Essendon’s Tom Bellchambers comes up against the form ruckman in Brodie Grundy. Don’t be confused by Bellchambers scoring 95 fantasy points last week. That was up against Port Adelaide who don’t even play a ruckman. Bellchambers will typically score around 60-70 which isn’t enough to justify his $12.6m price at PlayON. I would rather pay up for Grundy, or if you have to, pay down for Mason Cox. Bellchambers is not a big scorer and his price isn’t that cheap – he’s just in no man’s land. No thanks!
